Miss Frozen Yogurt, Dallas Age and Occupation: 28, Special Projects Coordinator Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Equity Trader Engagement Date: March 19, 2009 Wedding Date: April 2010 Venue: Marie Gabrielle, Dallas About Me: I was born and raised in Texas, and have lived in several of the cities across the state, but I currently reside in Austin. I went to college in Boston and have a special place in my heart for the Northeast. I love reading, shopping, wine, reuniting with college friends that are scattered across the country, reality TV, trying out new recipes, and attempting all the DIY projects that come along with wedding planning. I'm a "bleeding heart, save the world type" and thankfully my job allows me to work on legislation and policy to help out those in need. I met Mr. Frozen Yogurt in a bar, though he doesn't even drink! And now we are planning a modern yet vintage wedding in Dallas while dealing with the trials and tribulations of first time homeownership.
About Miss Frozen Yogurt

Menswear

September 9th, 2009 @ 3:31 pm by Miss Frozen Yogurt

Mr. Fro Yo and I were talking about what the guys should wear for the wedding, and what he should wear. He’s not entirely sure if he wants to wear a tux or not, and I don’t know that I want him to wear one. I think We’re both thinking the guys should wear grey suits.

Did you see that grey suit with the green tie? I’m in love! Thankfully I know of a great Etsy seller that can make some amazing green ties: Me and Matilda! But I am just worried about where his guys will be able to rent grey suits… I KNOW they don’t have them already. Has anyone rented/bought grey suits before? Where did you have the best luck finding them?

Macy’s Macy’s Macy’s. Our guys got great ones, on sale, Alfani for under $180.

I’d love to know this, too! As far as I’ve found, you can’t rent suits.

Men’s Wearhouse was doing a 2 for one sale, making a few of their suits $150, but I don’t see it on their website anymore!

I’ll have to check Macy’s out!

My fiance and his friends own tuxes! ha, ha, ha. My fiance actually owns tails too. Do you have a Filene’s basement? They have a great selection on suits and you can get them altered elsewhere. Joseph A. Banks usually has good sales too! In DC where most men wear suits, there are usually a lot of good sales there. Not sure if it is the same in other cities. Good luck! I love the grey suits.

I love the idea of doing grey suits! You could try a Banana Republic factory store. My fiance bought 2 suits for around $300. Sometimes the sizing is a little off though, so you may have to try it and see. Good luck!

My fiance does not want to rent a tux either. Instead, he has told his groomsmen that they’ll all go shopping together and buy matching suits. There is a great TJ Maxx style suit store in town that he loves to shop at so I think that is what they’ll do. He couldn’t see the need to throw money away on a rental when for a few bucks more they could buy a suit to keep.

if you really want to rent, jim’s formalware rents suits.

although, it seems for a small amount more, you can buy suits and get them tailored and it will look nicer than if you rent one. and you keep the suit! although on the other hand, it’s very convenient to just rent! and not worry about getting the groomsmen to shop for themselves.

I love the way grey suits look! I think Mr. Cheese bought his suit at Macy’s on sale.

So, I really wanted grey suits, but we didn’t really want to make the groomsmen buy a suit. Turns out that they make grey tuxes that you can rent, that pretty much look just like suits and are a lot cheaper - I think it’s $105 for the rental. Men’s Wearhouse and Savvi Formalwear both have grey tuxes, but I found it’s best to go in person rather than mess around with the websites.

I’ll be watching the comments here - we are trying to figure out the same thing! I think we are leaning towards watching for a sale, and buying the shirts/ties for the groomsmen to defray their costs.

I want my fiance and groomsmen to wear grey suits too. I’m hoping they can find inexpensive ones and if they already own one then that’s even better! I don’t care if they all match or not. Isn’t it funny though, we don’t think twice about asking our bridesmaids to spend $150-$300 on dresses, but we feel bad asking the guys to buy suits?

We wanted suits too, but I didnt want to ask the guys to buy them (not sure why it makes a difference… girls buy dresses all the time!). We will most likely get grey or black (the most casual one we can find) tuxes from MWH and have them wear the ties with no vests to dress it down a bit.

I second Joseph A. Banks - my partner wore a gray suit for our wedding and he had many to choose from there and, as was mentioned above, they have great sales. (I think you can score even better deals if you’re on their mailing list).

Our GMs are wearing grey suits. They are renting a grey tux and only wearing the shirt, tie, jacket and pants.

We are renting the gray Calvin Klein tux from Men’s Wearhouse. To me, it looks just like a gray suit with a vest, though it has a little bit of a silvery sheen on the lapels. They are $150 but if you rent 4 you get the 5th one free. While you could probably have your guys buy suits for not much more, I think renting is much simpler and guys prefer it.

i was gonna echo everyone else; they only have grey tuxes. its hard to find even suits to rent - they usually offer only black or linen.

Also check out J. Crew. The suits are a little high, but they are beautiful. I originally wanted my honey and his fella(s) to wear grey, but I really worry it will clash with one of my accent colors. So, either the accent color needs to change or the suit color has to change. Oh, the decisions!

@ariellebride: I feel the same way about guys buying their suits. We have girls buy their dresses, why not the guys? Sometimes renting is just as expensive as buying, anyway!

I actually found a lot of nice suits on amazon.com for really reasonable prices. My man is wearing grey the day-of, too! :)

I think we’re going with a tan suit. He’s buying a suit because he’s lost SO much weight his reward is wearing a nice suit that fits him well. Show off!

Our guys are wearing gray suits that we bought on http://www.menswearecollection.com/index.php
We are very happy with the quality! We did Men’s single breasted 3 button Super 150’s extra fine dress suit in Gray. The 6 suits cost 90 bucks each, plus they offer coupons all the time. They really look good. I’ll be posting pics in a few weeks! :)

I’m thinking of the same thing here, as we want tan suits. I really want my guys to buy their suits. I mean, every guy needs a good suit, number one; the bridesmaids have to buy their dresses, so why can’t the groomsmen buy a suit; and if you’re old enough to be a groom or groomsmen, you should wear your own pants. I know Mens Wearhouse always has some good sales, so I’m keeping my eyes peeled.

try megasuits.com. That’s where I got FI’s suit, and its really nice quality for $100, which is the same you would spend to rent a tux
