Mrs. Moonbeam, Los Angeles/San Antonio Age and Occupation: 26, Intern Architect Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Studio Analyst, aspiring Screenwriter Engagement Date: May 20, 2009 Wedding Date: November 2009 Venue: Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church (LaCoste, TX) and Mary Gray Events Center (Castroville, TX) About Me: I was born and raised in Texas, but after college I moved to Seattle for a couple of years and loved it. Then I followed my beau out here to LA and we're getting settled in. I've been making things since I can remember. I was raised by crafters. I love to sew, draw, paint, build, cook, bake (anything with a tangible end result is fair game). In that same spirit, I've been hosting since I was old enough to cook and set a fancy table. I kind of take after my grandmother, who believes that your morning OJ always tastes better out of the good crystal.
About Mrs. Moonbeam

Wedding Colors

September 9th, 2009 @ 12:17 pm by Mrs. Moonbeam

I’ve always loved brown, as opposed to black. Maybe it’s because in architecture school, there are too many people obsessed with wearing black, so I rebelled. I think it’s highly likely, as some of the professors literally only wear black; it’s quite uniform-like. So, I’ve always loved brown and really bold earth-toned color combos, as evidenced by the quilt I made for my bed. (Momma Moonbeam helped, and it was a Mr. Moonbeam’s Christmas gift one year. I was so happy when we moved in together and we got to put it on our bed.)

Luckily, this is perfect for our fall wedding. Our main colors will be a dark purple color, mustard yellow, and faded Tiffany blue. There will be accents of dark brown, really deep teal, pumpkin, copper, an earthy chartreuse, and the gray of Mr. Moonbeam’s suit.

Anyone who knows me in my normal life knows that these colors are kind of heavily involved in my wardrobe, home—everything. For instance, I have orange dining room chairs. I’m really happy that our fall wedding is allowing me to really go for colors that I love all year round.

Are you incorporating your favorite colors into your wedding colors, or are you choosing colors based on the season, venue, or another outside factor?

My favorite color is blue, and my shoes take care of that. I also love green and it’s a major color, so yes!

We are using Purple as our main color, with yellow & orange. My florist also suggested hot pinks & greens to use as small accents.

Our colors were completely based on my favorite color, Pink! A-DOR-E IT! lol… our colors ended up being multiple shades of pink, silver and black… my husband completely loved the final look :-)

First off I have to say I also adore fall colors, and I desperately wanted a fall wedding. However, I much more desperately wanted to marry sooner rather than later, so we opted for a May wedding (we first met in May). I picked black so that the ladies would have an easier time finding a dress they liked that was in their budget, and that they could wear more than once. Then we threw in two colors to lighten it up; champagne and lilac. We both love the lilac flower so much (and it’s all over our reception site) and we thought it would be both a great contrast and a great compliment to black. We LOVE the color combo, but they aren’t our favorite colors- blue and pink are! LOL The black has a very minimal role & is mostly just the suits, BM dresses, and on some of the invites.

i bought a pair of nikes last year only to realize that they were just lighter shades of my dream wedding colors! i’ve seen the color pop up a lot since it’s on my mind just as often. haha

I picked my fav colours, the same as yours, Miss Moonbeam! What makes my choice odd, is that our wedding is smackdab in the middle of summer…in July. We will even have hot chocolate incorporated into our centrepieces! But, I loved the colours, and Mr. Serenity wanted a wedding on a tallship, so we had to choose a summer month!

I figure, it’s our day, if it doesn’t make sense to anyone else, so be it. :)

I am doing similar fall colors: aubergine, rusts, ivorys, with a hit of periwinkle. This was also based on the color my bridesmaids would look best in. I have a wide range of colorings and deep purple seemed to be the best option.

I can’t wait to see your colors get integrated into your wedding.

@voomie24: The purple came from my bridesmaid’s dresses too. I didn’t want black or brown and we were dress shopping, saw THE DRESS and the color got added to the palette.@Miss Star: Thanks, it was definitely a goal to have lots of colors. But now that I’m trying to incorporate them all I can see why some might find it easier to pick one or two main colors. I guess we’ll all get to see how it turns out.

We’re using several of your colors - pumpkin, chartreuse, copper, brown, and a little navy thrown in for good measure.

You would think it would be one big color mess - but really, it seems to be going quite well.

Glad to see that someone else is in the earth tone family!

I love that you have so many colors! I feel strange when I tell people our colors are Fuchsia, Apple Green, Turquoise, Aqua, and Orange - the look at me like- “Five colors? and all Bright? Really?” But WTF… they are five colors I love and with the exception of orange (which makes me look ill) that i wear all the time- Plus it’s a summer wedding and the bright color are very summer-y. Go ahead with your bad self- the more colors the merrier! (PS If we had a fall wedding your pallet would be very close to what we would have- it’s perfect!)

I chose based on what colors I thought would go well w/ our venue and the season… but it didn’t hurt that I really like yellow :)

Haha… my fiance is one of those architects who just can’t get enough of black, whereas I really far prefer brown. I’m letting him get his way though with his outfit for our wedding day. He and all of his groomsmen will be wearing black suits. It’s really the only place in our wedding where we will use the color black, but I figure you can’t go wrong with a black suit, and it keeps the FI happy ;-)

I love your colors!!! And I love that fact that you’re calling your green chartreuse!! It’s the main color of my wedding and it’s hard to tell people cause then they look at me funny!! I’m really interested to see how you’re going to use all of those colors.
