It’s our day.

When the two of us met a little over two years ago, neither of us would have ever dreamed that we’d end up together. But six months ago, he proposed. And today, we’re officially becoming a family.

A lot has happened in half a year:

• It took me four changes of heart to find the right dress.
• I centered my colors around a shoe and a convenience.
• We opted out of throwing a big party, and were offered one instead.
• I thought forgoing a photographer was sensible, but then I came to my senses.
• I nearly had a breakdown over saving the date.
• I realized that it’s actually kind of hard to get married in a courthouse.
• Mr. MJ melted my heart by doing all the hard parts of the assembly for our picnic invitation suites.
• I almost lost myself in a sea of ’80s tulle and color-changing fountains.
• Mr. Mary Jane got a ring to be reckoned with.
• I was showered by both of the sexes.
• I found out that while I may not be America’s Next Top Sash Sewer*, I can slap together an agreeable bouquet in 30 minutes flat.

And did I mention that in the same time frame: I became a bee (which is awesome, but big commitment), we bought a house, and we are/have been enduring a huge amount of financial-stability-related stress? Where we find time for school and work, I’m not sure. But one thing remains constant: our love and support of each other.

Life keeps on moving through the good, the bad, the stressful and the exciting. When times are good, you revel in it. When times are crappy, you set your eyes on the prize keep on truckin’. When times are stressful, you pop open a bottle of wine and revise your to-do list. Regardless of what’s going on: the world keeps turning, and life keeps moving. I never thought today would actually arrive, yet here it is, and I am Ready with a capital R to say my vows. We’re a great team, and I’m so, so excited to face the triumphs and tribulations of life with Mr. Mary Jane by my side.

My parents have traveled over a thousand miles to be here. Mr. Mary Jane’s parents have spent months preparing a party in our honor. Today we gather with them, along with my future brothers-in-law, a dear friend, and two photographers. We descend upon a rural ND courtroom, and we emerge as husband and wife.
