About Mrs. Cloud

Details, Details for Mama Cloud!

September 10th, 2009 @ 5:36 pm by Mrs. Cloud

Everyone knows that after the bride, the mothers of the bride and groom have the biggest task when picking out what they are going to wear. Well, at least everyone involved in our wedding knows that. The bridesmaids were a piece of cake, and the boys are in tuxes… simple, simple. But in Mama Cloud’s case in particular, we have been going back and forth on details for a while. In fact, she purchased a total of FOUR dresses that she thought might be the one (the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, I guess). One of them did turn out to be perfect. It is stunning on her, and you can just tell she feels good in it too. The dress has already been handed over for alterations, and we didn’t manage to get any good pictures before it went, but I did track a picture down of something that was very similar. Just imagine this in a beautiful blue-green color instead of chocolate brown, and at the side where the gathering meets, a pretty silvery broach. Trust, it is gorgeous.

Perfect dress, check. Now accessories are needed, and we are stuck.

We both even go back and forth on jewelry: smaller earrings and a necklace, or maybe just bold earrings? Decisions, decisions! So, we are tackling the search for a purse first. At first she was thinking of carrying a small clutch she could pin her corsage to, but after looking for a bit, she kept going back to harder, more case-like clutches (obviously I have never in my life studied fashion, and I apologize since I’m sure this style of clutch has a better name then “harder, case-like”!). After a lot of searching, Mama Cloud narrowed it down to the five following contenders, and along with the links she sent, she had said these were her qualifications:

“Please remember to look for all silver purses: I want shiny, not flat or matte. The size is important. I want it to be small in my hand. I have always thought I would like to have a hard-type case. I have been looking for years, not in the right places, not knowing what it was called. I would like a good sized opening… I think they all have one.”

I love the dress Mama Cloud picked out! In fact, Mama um… Next? (If I had known how Weddingbee worked when I chose my login name, it would have been something different!) was eyeing a dress very similar to that, only knee-length!

I love option number 5, though it might not be hard like the wants it.

I like the 3rd one! And it seems to meet your mom’s criteria as it’s only 3″ high and will easily fit in her hand. Love the dress!

I voted for #1 but I think it’s actually tied with #5 - I think they would both look great with that dress!

Sounds so pretty!!!! Shades of blue are my favorite - hence my MOH’s sapphire dress =)

My f-m.i.l. is wearing a color close to the on in the picture … it’s a bit more bronze though.

My mothers dress is so fabulous… it’s a silver shade in a mermaid shape! I love it.

I like #3, 4, and 5! Your mom’s dress is really pretty. With that dress, I like the idea of some bold earrings.

i LOVE option 3. and i think for jewelry it just needs a statement necklace. kind of like kiera knightly’s bulgari necklace at the 2006 oscars.

Very pretty dress! We haven’t looked for anything for my Mom, yet. I think my FI’s mom already said she had a burgundy dress so she’s not going to buy another one. At least one of them has something!

Love the dress for your mom. I chose #3, it seemed to resemble the shape of the neckline if that makes any sense.

Such a beautiful dress! I think the last bag is so pretty with the beading, but option 1 is also nice if she wanted something a little simplier. I’m a big fan of statement earrings so I’d have to vote for ditching the necklace and just wearing some bold, beautiful earrings.

I chose 1, but loved 5 just as much. Depends on her brooch, if it’s more metally than beady, then I’d go with 1.

I chose 4. I love 5 but it’s not hard and less shiney so I didn’t think it fit her criteria as well.

I would vote for some statement earings and either no necklace or something small and understated.

I love option one, but actually voted for option 2 purely based on the strap. Consider how much hand shaking and hugging your mom will be doing… that strap may come in handy!

I really love the dress! and after hearing that there is a brooch on the dress, i would go for big earrings, they make a statement and it won’t be too much.
small earrings/necklace/and brooch i think will be too busy, you don’t want to take away from teh elegance/simplicity of the dress.

The consensus seems to be for #5, but it appears to be a softer exterior with the beading on material, and does not seem as though it is very stiff? I like Option 2, but does she want it to have a strap? The strap may become cumbersome if she is not going to use the strap, and if it is not removable.

No solutions, sorry…

That dress is remarkable. I love elegant simple designs, and I think I’ll agree on a strap for opt 2.

Option number 5 isn’t hard … but I really think it’ll compliment the dress best!
