Milking the Menu

September 10th, 2009 @ 6:02 pm by Mrs. Dew Drop

Mr. DD’s favorite food is cheese, and mine is ice cream.

Yes, we’re very pro-dairy around the Dew Drop household.

Clearly we needed to incorporate our love of dairy products into our wedding. But how? We briefly considered just tying a cow outside the venue door, but, of course, I was concerned about the cow clashing with our theme and colors. It’s wrong to paint a cow turquoise and gold, right? Not to mention difficult to get the cow to stay still…

Yummy cheese! (Source)

Um, okay, so that’s not what really happened. In reality, we met with our caterer, I suggested having a cheese station at the cocktail hour, and Mr. DD suggested having an ice cream sundae bar. I got really excited about the sundaes, Mr. DD got really excited about the cheese, our caterer was just excited in general… and this means that we will be serving our favorite milk-based products at the wedding! I’m so excited!!

Are you planning to incorporate your favorite foods into your wedding menu?

We’re doing ice cream stations also! Mainly for the kiddies but I’m sure the adults are going to love them just as much. =D

Yum! My fiance is a huge dairy fan, too, but he mostly loves milk. And not chocolate milk (he says the chocolate sauce “taints” the milk). We’re thinking about doing a late night snack of (plain) milk and cookies. I like milk, but I looove cookies!

That looks really tempting! If only I wasn’t allergic to dairy!

We’re having pasta and that’s one of my fave meals. If we were to serve sushi it would be great but really expensive! haha

I wanted an ice cream thing too! I looked into Ben and Jerry’s…. they cater, apparently. :-P But they were a tad bit pricey…. so I went with another idea! (Dessert table!)

Yes! We’re having pizza. And gelato. And, for the vegetarian option, my pick: sandwiches!

I love love love cheese. We had pimento cheese finger sandwiches at our cocktail hour! It was a way to share something special with guests who might not be familiar with it.

I am nut girl like no other. Wow, did that sound bad?

I mean like peanuts, cashews, brazil nuts, almonds, etc. So alongside our vegetable crudite, cheese and crackers, we had nuts. Lots and lots of nuts :) We did our best to keep them from touching other foods to avoid allergy issues, but our lone guest who was allergic is 35 and thus, knows her boundaries!

Oh, and our venue even let us bring the leftover ones home! Yay!

An acquaintance of mine just got married this spring, and for the groom’s cake, the bride had a “cheese cake” made because his favorite food was cheese!!! I thought it was a super cute idea!

YUMMERS! That sounds awesome! We had cheese plates at our wedding and Mr Frenchie really wanted a Sundae bar or just Ice Cream cones, but the logistics were too hard to work out. Color me jealous!

So, tell me–is it bad that I’m making myself hungry with this post?

@tea, @Miss Poodle, @RAllise, and @DarlingNikki586: Come on down! :)

@nickishoe: Milk and cookies is a great idea!

@Miss Ramen: I am so totally with you on that.

@azwinelover: Hahaha! That would be perfect. :)

@KatieBug3017: A cake made out of cheese wheels? That is seriously awesome!!

@Miss Dew Drop: I thought it was one of the cutest ideas that I’ve seen…very unique! And they served it with fruit and preserves. The cheese wheels even looked like a cake in my opinion…so fun!
