Mrs. Moonbeam's Picture
Mrs. Moonbeam, Los Angeles/San Antonio Age and Occupation: 26, Intern Architect Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Studio Analyst, aspiring Screenwriter Engagement Date: May 20, 2009 Wedding Date: November 2009 Venue: Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church (LaCoste, TX) and Mary Gray Events Center (Castroville, TX) About Me: I was born and raised in Texas, but after college I moved to Seattle for a couple of years and loved it. Then I followed my beau out here to LA and we're getting settled in. I've been making things since I can remember. I was raised by crafters. I love to sew, draw, paint, build, cook, bake (anything with a tangible end result is fair game). In that same spirit, I've been hosting since I was old enough to cook and set a fancy table. I kind of take after my grandmother, who believes that your morning OJ always tastes better out of the good crystal.

November Rehearsal Dinner Dress

September 10th, 2009 @ 1:28 pm by Mrs. Moonbeam

dress source

The dress in the picture is too big, so I ordered a smaller size. Unfortunately, even that size was too big on top, and since that doesn’t work with a strapless dress, it had to be returned. I did love the architectural pleating and the warm gray color, but if it doesn’t fit and it’s over $200, it goes back to the store.

After taking it back, I did a little more shopping and found this other Calvin Klein number and bought it at Nordstrom’s big anniversary sale for $80. I really love it in general, but when I looked at the photo later, I looked pregnant. I might have ’wobbly bits’, but they’re generally not in the belly area.

I was thinking of wearing some great yellow heels with it. I just like yellow and purple. Some might say it clashes, but I can only reply that I was born in the ’80s. So, this might become a shower dress, but I’ve already worn it twice (with yellow heels) since I bought it, therefore it’s still a good dress.

In short, the search for a rehearsal dress continues.

How many dresses did you buy before you found the one for your rehearsal dinner? Did you keep most of them, or return them all until you found the one?

I’m tempted to buy the dress my bridesmaids are wearing in a different color to wear to the reception. Is that just plain weird?!?

I only bought two and the second one was it… thank goodness it was in the same shopping trip so I could quickly take the other one back. Good luck finding your dress, and I love those yellow shoes!

the yellow shoes are super cute! It took me three shopping trips and only one return before finding the right dresses for showers and rehearsal dinner. But I found ones I really love weeks after the events! oh well.

I love the yellow and purple heels. I don’t consider myself to be still stuck in the 80’s, but my daughter keeps telling me otherwise. I say go for it.

I love love love your first dress, but there’s not much you can do if it doesn’t fit! Good luck with the rest of your search. I’m still looking for a rehearsal dress myself!

What about finding a cute belt to cinch in the waist? I love that dress!

I agree with @fanatic888–you can put either a yellow or a cognac colored belt where the empire seam falls… it would be great with that dress!

I love both dresses and the shoes! too bad the first one didn’t fit. I’m still working on choosing a rehearsal dinner location, so i’m not quite onto the dress-buying yet. I hope that’s more fun!
