Mrs. Sunbeam's Picture
Mrs. Sunbeam, San Francisco/Grove City, PA Age and Occupation: 26, Grad Student & Office Manager Fiance's Age and Occupation: 27, Motion Designer Engagement Date: May 10, 2008 Wedding Date: September 2009 Venue: Harbison Chapel & The Maple Lane Farm About Me: Mr. Sunbeam and I are high school sweethearts. We both come from a small town in PA but are growing to love the California lifestyle. He loves wine and I love cheese... the perfect combination! When I'm not drooling over wedding blogs, I'm attending grad school, out being a foodie, or attempting to "walk" our cat at the park. Two things guaranteed to excite me are wedding cakes and breaking out my suitcase to travel. Mr. Sunbeam and I are personalizing our hometown wedding to celebrate our high school sweetheart status and PA roots with a few CA touches. After ten years of dating we couldn't be more excited to call each other husband and wife!
About Mrs. Sunbeam

Time to transition into dance mode! At this point in time, our guests will be full of yummy cheeses, wine, and delicious little fall-inspired small plates. They will be craving some sugar and needing some music to keep them from slipping into food coma. No worries, guests! The dance music is on its way!

We’ll be slicing our delicious (soon to be revealed sketches) cake by Wendy Kromer to Little Sack of Sugar:

Then Mr Sunbeam and I will take the floor. Based on your feedback, the fact that it has a beat that is easy to dance to, and because it was my #1 all along, muahaha, we are going to dance to Iron & Wine’s Lady’s House. Swooooon.

Next, Father Sunbeam and I will dance. He didn’t have any preference for the song, which is not a surprise, since dancing is not his thing. Though, he did get pulled out on the floor for a YMCA dance at my cousin’s wedding, and we were all very entertained.

He and I will dance to Paul Simon’sFather & Daughter. A fellow bride I know is doing her father/daughter dance on the down low, and getting a subtle heads-up from the DJ that the bride and groom’s “first dance” song is next. That might be an excellent option, as it would also let our “first dance” song kick off the dancing.

Mr. Sunbeam isn’t sure right now what song he and FMIL Sunbeam will be dancing to. There aren’t too many mother-son songs out there. I’m not even 100% sure they will do a dance. We shall see!

Next up, get your booty on the dance floor! What songs did you choose for your cake cutting and dancing with your parents? Anyone forgoing the father-daughter, mother-son dances?

Cake Cutting: “Sweetest Thing” -U2
Father/Daughter: “Brandy” -Looking Glass (a favorite from my dad driving me to elementary school)
First dance: “You Belong to Me” -Jason Wade, from the Shrek Soundtrack (”our song”)

“How Sweet It Is” by James Taylor was first runner up for our cake-cutting, though!

We went to a wedding recently where the Mother/Son song was from Rascall Flatts called “My Wish.” You can listen to it here on Youtube

I’m not doing a cake cutting and instead of separate mother/son and father/daughter dances, we’re doing one dance with both sets to John Lennon’s “Beautiful Boy.” Only the band is going to sing “child” instead of boy, since I’ll be dancing with my dad too. Love all the songs suggested tho, all goodies!

The only song I’ve picked so far is the father/daughter dance - Gracie by Ben Folds.
