Boutonnieres

September 14th, 2009 @ 10:27 am by Mrs. Frozen Yogurt

Boutonnieres : wedding flowers 119 bout2

from D Magazine

So when I met with our florist, she asked me what I had in mind for boutonnieres, and I honestly didn’t know. I knew that we didn’t want something super traditional, but I wasn’t sure what that meant. So, we talked about what flowers we liked, and then Kristen suggested we do eucalyptus with one flower (maybe ranunculus) for the groomsmen and Mr. Fro Yo. Sort of like this one:

But I envisioned more traditional eucalyptus like this:

And billy buttons for the ring bearers (dyed green). So cute!!

from Green Wedding Shoes

Of course, I will continue to look for inspiration and I might change my mind. Here are a few others that I thought were cute, too:

What are some great non-traditional flowers that would look good in a boutonniere?

My husband had eucalyptus as the base, and a kangaroo paw. It looked great the day of, and miraculously a year and a half later, it still looks perfect! No color fading, nothing! It’s amazing-we didn’t do anything to preserve it.

Very cute! We received tons of compliments on our bouts, which used scabiosa as the feature for the groomsmen and scabiosa with billy buttons for the groom - http://hothousedesignstudio.blogspot.com/2009/07/midsummer-night-at-aldridge-gardens.html. Unfortunately I couldn’t remember the word “scabiosa” all night, so I spent a lot of time at the reception saying “thank you, yes, it’s that, umm, flower I saw somewhere with the funny name”
