I Can’t Keep Secrets

Sometimes I get so excited about a gift to hubby that I give it to him early.

Mr. Toucan once mentioned that he wishes he had some cuff links for his work shirts, as opposed to the little rope knots that he usually uses. I knew of the perfect place to get him some cuff links, and planned to give these babies to him in October for our 8 year dating anniversary:

I quickly hid them before Mr. Toucan came home.

Unfortunately, they only stayed hidden until this morning when I saw the Mister wearing a french cuff shirt. He’s wearing the Nintendo Controller Cufflinks right now.

I won’t be buying any more presents for our dating anniversary, even though I now don’t have anything else to give him come October. I think the moral of the story is to not buy gifts so early.

Does anyone else have problems keeping secrets (even presents!) from your partner?

I’m terrible too. I buy it, then hide it, then he hints that he wishes he had a ____… and boom. I can’t stand not to give it to him.

Awwww, your behavior reminds me of my mister, who also gets so excited he tries to give gifts early. He also usually is NOT interested in opening gifts for himself (like at Christmas) and much more focused on the gifts he’s giving to other people — it’s so cute!

i feel the same, even though my fi’s birthday is at the end of the month and i bought U2 tickets for him back in March for when they are in DC (two days after his bday) and miraculously haven’t spilled the secret yet… but it’s been so hard!

i am horrible also! I pick up some robot cuff links when I wandered into a store (on SALE for like $7!) while on my way to meet Mr Knit- I gave them to him as soon as I saw him… I can’t keep gifts a secret!

I have some compass cuff links on my desk at work right now and I want to run home and give them to him every time my eyes drift to them. They are intended for our wedding so I have to wait til May!! Gah!!

I spilled the beans about the present I am getting him for when we are getting ready.

I had to, he told me he was about to purchase it and I told him NO!! He wanted to know why and I had no choice, sucks!

Those are so cute! I gave my guy for Christmas last year some vintage map cufflinks made by an Etsy designer. They were created from old maps and each one had a different city which highlighted our past and future.

I’m pretty good with it, but my Mr is terrible at it! I had mentioned several dozen times how hard of a time I was having finding a bracelet to match the M.Moto pearls I was wearing for our wedding, and he finally felt bad for me and caved and game them to me early…
