About Mrs. Apple Cider

I am so sad that I am abandoning this project. I really loved it, and when I did it DIY-style, I just got so excited. I wish that there was a way to make it work, but the amount of time it would take to cut out each bird has slipped away.

Basically, the idea was for the birds to serve as place cards and sit on each glass.

I designed a template in Word, and basically just traced the birds in Paint (from our invitations) and rotated them. I connected 2 birds at the top, so that when I cut them, they would be together at the top, sort of like a table tent.

I then cut them out and cut a little slit in them so they would sit on the rim of the glass.

We decided that we will not have assigned seats, and will just have reserved tables. I didn’t want to have plain “Reserved” signs, so coming up next, I will show you what we decided to do instead.

Did you abandon any DIY projects that you loved? What were they and why did you have to give them up?

Awww, those are so cute! You’ll just hafta host a party in the future and use those — or a similar design — for your guests! :-)

Seriously those are so cute. I can’t wait to see what you came up with. I always love all your projects. I can’t believe that you did them in word and paint.

Those are very cute and a very good idea. Maybe you can use them in the future for something.

awww, I’m sorry you had to abandon this project–it’s the cutest! Maybe it will be the perfect inspiration for someone else looking for an adorable escort birdie!

They are gorgeous, sometimes it’s so heartbreaking to let some things go, but there’s only so much time.

Those are too cute to not use!!! Maybe they could fit in somewhere else! I like the idea of not having assigned seating though. :)

I love all of your projects! They are all so cute! Too bad you couldn’t use them for seating. Maybe you can put them on reserved signs or as reserved signs? Or somewhere else where a little sign would be cute!

That’s such a CUTE idea!!! I’m sure what you ended up doing must be so much better that you gave up on this one! :)

@Gerbera: I’m pretty sure the font is Albemarle Swash :)

I’m sorry it didn’t work out, but I am looking forward to seeing the next installment. Your wedding is coming along great though!

I used the Tindalo too and had to cut my design into each piece with an X-acto knife. (A punch or scissors would not work). It was crazy tough! I hope you were able to use scissors on yours! Or at the very least, have an army of help!

Those are totally cute, but I can see why they would take SO long to cut out. Can’t wait to see what you did instead!

Those are adorable, but I can definitely see why you had to drop the project because of timing. I really wanted to DIY our favors (was going to bake cookies) but I realized I’d be too stressed out that close to the wedding to be making something myself.

Really cute- its too bad it was too time consuming. All the curves… yikes. That would have taken years off your life! lol

I’m using airplane cutout place cards that hang from our guests water goblets, but because of all the straight lines I can get 3 sheets cut out in about 5 minutes.
