Party or Rehearsal Dinner Dress?

September 17th, 2009 @ 3:10 pm by Miss Frozen Yogurt

Recently, Mr. Fro Yo’s sister (she’s also a bridesmaid) was in town and we went shopping for her bridesmaid’s dress. We found some pretty ones, but not THE one. But we have time. I, however, did find a dress that I absolutely adore. I know, I know, the trip wasn’t about me, but I couldn’t help myself, it’s that gorgeous. We found it at Neiman’s, but I found it online at Nordstrom for $2 cheaper. Hey, every little bit helps.

Now I need to figure out a reason to buy this beauty. The rehearsal dinner? Some party? I don’t know, but what I do know is that I really want it. It comes in Navy also, but I really liked the bridal look to it in white.

Do you buy dresses when you have an occasion to wear them, or do you buy them as you see them and find reasons to wear them later?

Beautiful! The navy might be a tad more rewearable post-wedding (like to OTHER weddings!). Love the ruffled look!

I tend to buy dresses as I see them and then find an occassion to wear them later. I think it’s the smart thing to do because when you NEED a dress for something, you can never find it. I think this dress is gorgeous. You should wear it to the rehearsal dinner. And I think you can get a lot of use out of it if. With the right accessories, it won’t look as “bridal” if you don’t want it to for later use.

I love this dress! I was very close to buying it, but sadly my fiance doesn’t care for it. He says it’s “just kinda funny looking.” :(

Stunning! It’s so dreamy and ethereal. I would wear it to my rehearsal dinner, because it seems too special for a bachelorette party. But either way, I would wear it!

I actually bought this dress from Nordstrom a few months back for my wedding. Sadly, I ended up returning it because it’s incredibly short, at least on me (I’m 5′10) Just wanted to give you a heads up. It is a really beautiful dress though!

Regarding lo’s comment…..I agree, for $350 I don’t think it was worth it but for $140 I think it is.

It’s gorgeous!! I would buy it…in white! and wear it to one of your showers or to the rehearsal dinner. I definitely plan on wearing white and being as “bridey” as possible for showers and the dinner and such. That way I’ll get to buy new dresses =]

I totally just bought this dress for our May rehearsal dinner. I can’t wait to wear it. When I saw it I knew it was ‘the one’ for our rehearsal dinner (I felt the same way when I saw my wedding dress). Thanks for the tip!

Miss Fro Yo, this dress is only $168!!! *swoons* I was fully expecting to click the link and see a $350 price tag (the fact that you said you originally found it at Neiman’s didn’t help :)

I think I may buy it now! And wedding is almost month over!

Beeeeautiful! Go for it — you’ll find an occasion!

I tend to buy dresses that rock my world when I see them — whether or not I have an occasion in mind — but I HAVE been stuck with dresses that never get worn. I need to step it up and get myself invited to more special occasions (any Bees out there who need an extra wedding guest? wink, wink)

That is a great dress. I think it could work for the RD, depending on how dressy your party is going to be. I know I had a hard time finding dresses I liked for my shower/RD, so I actually ended up wearing 2 dresses I already had!

Buy it buy it! If for no other reason than that those of us at weddingbee thinks it’s great and think you need it. Then find a use for it.

LOVE it. I actually just saw this dress on Cesar and Tanya Perez’s photography blog … http://www.perezblog.net/ (not to be confused with perez hilton). The bride wore it as a reception/exit dress. If you don’t wear it at the rehearsal dinner, you could definitely wear it to leave the wedding!
