Take a Shawl and Snuggle

September 17th, 2009 @ 4:24 pm by Mrs. Apple Cider

I wrote about a shawl basket that I loved, and decided to borrow the idea! I received our shawls and I love them. So, of course, I had to create some adorable signs and tags to go with them. We are super lucky to already have a great basket given to us by Mr. AC’s mom that we are going to use.

We decided to only have around 22 shawls. I think (if I am being honest) that these shawls were more for the “idea” or “look” of having shawls. I am not sure anyone will actually use them, and if they do… there aren’t very many. I am pretty sure I should have gotten more, or not used at all, them but after going through SOOO much trouble getting them, I am going to put them out.

Take a Shawl and Snuggle : wedding decor favors reception Img 28403 I designed the tags in MS Word (as usual) and I decided to take our birds and create a new image to use. I wanted to keep the bird thing, but knew that people might get tired of the branches.

Take a Shawl and Snuggle : wedding decor favors reception Img 28308 Take a Shawl and Snuggle : wedding decor favors reception Img 28405 We are trying to decide where to put the basket. Part of me feels like putting at the head of the aisle, while another part of me thinks that it makes more sense to put them on the porch where our cocktail hour is being held.

Where do you think it should go?

I think the porch makes sense sense it’ll get chilly when the sun starts to set and that’ll be around coctail time (assuming an evening wedding)

I LOVE this. LOVE it as in, may steal it.
I see your point. You want to place them somewhere people who are cold can find them easily, but don’t want to put them in a place where your guests assume they need to take one. Have you thought about changing the wording of the signs to something along the lines of “It can be chilly here. If you agree, please take a shawl..”?

I really like this idea. My parents are going to East Asia this autumn . . . I wonder if they can snag some at a great price.

I vote for the porch. Also I love the idea of a shawl basket! I might have to take this up with Mr Moo.

Where did you get the shawls? We thought about doing this but couldn’t find any that fit our limited budget.

I think you should put them on the porch, for cocktail hour. It’s a sweet detail, akin to putting a few pairs of flip flops out, and I don’t think people will be upset if they can’t grab one… though they may not realize they can take them home, and you could end up with a pile of pashminas at the end of the night.

I am doing this too! I got mine from http://www.fashionunic.com for a great price. I forget now. $4? Less? I got 75 b/c that was when we were planning a bigger wedding. Now, our guest count is under 100. Oops! I think I am going to put three at the end of each pew. Our church has no heat or electricity. Whatever shawls don’t get used, we’ll bring over to the reception site, which has a huge wraparound porch. People may want to hang out there, so if it’s chilly they can grab a shawl. I should probably get a basket for there.

I like the tags you did. I haven’t gotten that far yet. :-)

The aisle? It might get cold sitting during the ceremony.

Wow. I can’t believe you do all this in MS Word!!!

I’m going to steal this idea becuase it’s so freaking cute.

I would use them for the cocktail hour, and when I do this project for my wedding - that’s exactly where I’ll put them! ;)
