Miss Lamb's Picture
Miss Lamb, Norfolk Age and Occupation: 25, Homeland Security Consultant Fiance's Age and Occupation: 27, Graduate Student Engagement Date: January 2009 Wedding Date: January 2010 Venue: Trinity Presbyterian Church/Harrison Opera House About Me: I’m a Homeland Security Consultant with a tendency towards pulling office pranks, taking lunch breaks, and drinking Wawa shakes. I’m also an English major with a serious obsession with alliteration and rhymes. While I’m not keeping America safe, I’m training for half marathons and the Escape from Alcatraz swim. Or moving for the third time this year. Or baking. Or wedding crafting. Or crying about wedding planning. All the while, I’m getting myself into Lucille Ball-esque scrapes and making Jim Carey-esque faces. Our big fat Czech/Baptist/Jewish/Italian wedding is a combination of vintage eclectic, DIY, and little spoonful of sugar from our Event Coordinator. It’s going to be a Norfolk flavored wedding with the verve of an only-daughter-blow-out bash!
About Miss Lamb

My Memento of Commitment and Love

September 18th, 2009 @ 3:55 pm by Miss Lamb

But sometimes, I also call it my bling.

I was not 100% set on a diamond engagement ring. I said several times that it wasn’t the ring that mattered to me. However, I knew that the woolly counterpart likes to follow tradition and that his impeccable jewelry taste would probably be bestowed upon me in the form of an engagement ring.

One winter, 7 of our friends/acquaintances, got engaged in the span of about 5 weeks. Seeing all of the rings, one right after another, was an excellent impromptu crash course in engagement ring buying and styles. I learned the Lamma-bama-Mister wasn’t a fan of pave settings, or any other stones around the middle stone. He learned that I liked princess and round cuts.

I actually had very little to do with choosing the ring. We went to one jewelry store together and browsed for a little over 2 hours. About 10 weeks later, he proposed.

It may sound cliche, but it’s everything I hoped it would be, and more. Mr. Lamb exerted the same, if not more, effort that he would put into buying any form of electronics or home goods - months of careful research. I think the ring really shows how much care he put into its purchase.

I love the way that the solitaire makes a statement and says, “I own this ring.” I love that the white gold is delicate and lightweight. I LOVE LOVE LOVE that my Lamb Lovie arranged to have the band etched in an antique wheat pattern.

Oh! And one more thing I love. The stone is set in a cathedral setting, to make sure there’s plenty of room for my wedding band to sit flush. Let me repeat: my wedding band!

Holy moly! I’m going to be wearing a wedding band - I’m getting married! Wooooooo hooooooooooooooooo! I’m having a “Holy wedding band, Batman! I’m going to be getting married!” moment!

Do you share the same ring tastes as your SO?

Beautiful ring — I’m sure it’ll look fab in some pro ring shots. (I’d love to see one that really highlights the etching!)

i inherited a ring similar to that from my mom. it’s gorgeous, but because of the setting, it snags on everything! let’s just say i don’t wear it too often. *sigh*

We both loved the minimalist style, class and elegance of a solitaire. I was just sooo happy that it was exactly what I wanted when he proposed. But like you, I would have been happy with whatever he offered me when he proposed.

Love your ring! Big ups to all the ladies with solitaires on their fingers! (Love the wheat patern on the band too, btw, very unique!)

Your ring is awesome! My FI has different tastes in jewelry, and my ring isn’t my dream ring…but he gave it to me, and that’s what really matters!

The cathedral setting is my favorite. I think it screams, “LOOK!” yay for the wow factor.

@Mrs. Bruschetta: Hahaha, these were taken before I knew who Ann Ruthman was! Better ones are forthcoming in a future post and I’m def. excited to see what our photographer decides to do with them too!

To a degree we did. There were several halo ring I showed him, and an emerald cut that he was not a fan of. I love the ring he picked for me!
I love yours! = )

Gorgeous ring. Our styles are different; mine’s more clean and modern, his is more banged up and rugged.
