Mrs. Moonbeam, Los Angeles/San Antonio Age and Occupation: 26, Intern Architect Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Studio Analyst, aspiring Screenwriter Engagement Date: May 20, 2009 Wedding Date: November 2009 Venue: Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church (LaCoste, TX) and Mary Gray Events Center (Castroville, TX) About Me: I was born and raised in Texas, but after college I moved to Seattle for a couple of years and loved it. Then I followed my beau out here to LA and we're getting settled in. I've been making things since I can remember. I was raised by crafters. I love to sew, draw, paint, build, cook, bake (anything with a tangible end result is fair game). In that same spirit, I've been hosting since I was old enough to cook and set a fancy table. I kind of take after my grandmother, who believes that your morning OJ always tastes better out of the good crystal.

Rejected Invites

September 18th, 2009 @ 4:21 pm by Mrs. Moonbeam

One thing about Weddingbee is the ridiculous amount of inspiration. This little double-edged sword really made itself apparent in our invites. I saw so many different things that I liked and was just trying and trying to figure out what to go with. Some of the different resources I used were the Martha Stewart’s doily images that have made their way onto some of the bee’s paper goods, an image of my grandmother’s lace, a floral background from BittBox, an ornamental brush set from BrushKing and the aquiline and civilian fonts from abstract fonts. I used Papyrus as well, but I think that’s a standard font. I was working with a square format to fit those blank CD case envelopes.

These were all in the rough draft state, but I’ll give you some hints and let you know which bits of inspiration made it into the final product.

In the end, there will be purple flowers, textured-looking paper (that beloved wood grain paper was too pricey; maybe I’ll find a small thing to do with it), trace paper belly bands, kraft paper envelopes (those blank CD cases were also pricey and added to the postage), the floral background, and an ornamental brush made the cut. I went with different fonts, and I abandoned the square format (you have to pay extra to ship an odd shapes, like squares). In the end, they aren’t what I originally had in mind, but I love what we’ve ended up with and will be showing them to you soon. Everything is printed and CUT, so I’m just waiting on envelopes to make their way to my mailbox.

Did you face inspiration overload? How did you whittle down your decisions?

I definitely had inspiration overload. I ended up changing my mind so many times it was making everyone involved (including me!) nuts.
I ended up editing a lot of my ideas & I’m sticking with my original “gut” plan. If it feels right, I’m going to go for it. Its important to not lose your overall vision & feeling of what you want for your day. It’s soooo easy to get caught up in all the cool ideas that are brought to our attention :)

I can’t wait to see your invitations now!
Our invitation designer actually helped us whittle down our inspiration, I sent ALL my inspiration to him and he created our invites and they were perfect :)

I’m totally in the “overwhelmed by inspiration” phase… I guess it’s better than being uninspired. We have a lot of different aspects that we would like to incorporate into our final invitation design. Luckily we still have a few more months to fine tune the design.

I’m excited to see what you came up with. I know how you feel, with all of the super creative invites on WeddingBee. Everytime a Bee unveils her invitation suite I almost always think “that’s what I want our to looks like!” ;)

I’m already overwhelmed, and we haven’t set a date! However, I do have to comment that yes, Papyrus is standard, but for some reason I’m addicted to it. I have to put it away before I have Papyrus overload in my wedding!

@FlipFlopBride: I love papyrus too, I’ve been using it on projects since grade school.

I can totally relate, I wish we could have several wedding so we didn’t need to decide for only one invitation LOL
