Miss Frozen Yogurt, Dallas Age and Occupation: 28, Special Projects Coordinator Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Equity Trader Engagement Date: March 19, 2009 Wedding Date: April 2010 Venue: Marie Gabrielle, Dallas About Me: I was born and raised in Texas, and have lived in several of the cities across the state, but I currently reside in Austin. I went to college in Boston and have a special place in my heart for the Northeast. I love reading, shopping, wine, reuniting with college friends that are scattered across the country, reality TV, trying out new recipes, and attempting all the DIY projects that come along with wedding planning. I'm a "bleeding heart, save the world type" and thankfully my job allows me to work on legislation and policy to help out those in need. I met Mr. Frozen Yogurt in a bar, though he doesn't even drink! And now we are planning a modern yet vintage wedding in Dallas while dealing with the trials and tribulations of first time homeownership.

Wedding Music

September 19th, 2009 @ 1:00 pm by Miss Frozen Yogurt

So I’m thinking that we should do some non-traditional music for the ceremony.  We haven’t totally decided on the songs we’ll use, but we really want to do something that represents us, and the traditional songs really don’t. Mr. Fro Yo and I both started to think about songs we would want to incorporate in to our wedding, and here are some that we came up with…

For the entrance of the bridal party, we’re thinking of “Bitter Sweet Symphony” by the Verve.

And then for my entrance, we’re thinking of “Thank You” by Led Zeppelin.

And then for our walk back down the aisle after we are already married, we’re thinking “All You Need Is Love” by the Beatles.

For our first dance, we’re thinking of “She’s Got A Way About Her” by Billy Joel, though it will be sung by my college friend, James.

Are there other songs you’ve heard at weddings that you’ve liked?

I just met with our dj about non-traditional ceremony music. I think we will walk down the aisle to “crash into me” dmb, but just the instrumentals. The rest, we are still workin on.

We had our trio played an instrumental version of “Bittersweet Symphony” for our (and our bridal party’s) recessional. Originally I wanted it for MY processional, but I couldn’t resist the old “Here Comes the Bride.” (Every since I first heard the Verve song, I knew I wanted it at my wedding.) Something to think about: You might want the instrumental version of “Bittersweet Symphony” b/c the words aren’t so wedding-y.

My bf and I have toyed with using that Led Zep song as our first dance song! Have you heard Chris Cornell cover of it? I l o v e his version, but my bf’s a classic rock junky, so there’s no messing with the original for him.

Anyways, I love your choices. very similar to my taste. I also plan to use that Beatles song as our exit song. :)

I am using the instrumental Bittersweet Symphony for my entrance. That was one of my earliest wedding decisions. It’s perfect for me, and the theme of the rest of the wedding music will be the 1990’s!

I’m walking down the aisle to, “Tiger Mountain Peasant Song” by the Fleet Foxes. Like the Verve though, not too wedding-y, so we’ll have an acoustic guitar play the song and a violinist playing the melody (? the singing part, I’m clearly not musical!) I love the Beatles idea!

My friend actually used to sing with the Boston Pops, so I’m very lucky. I can’t wait for him to sing!!

@ravenleigh23 - I said the same thing!! I love his version, but my bf likes Led Zeps version better. I personally think Chris Cornell’s is better for a first dance song. His voice makes me melt…. Good song choice!!

We are going the non-traditional route as well… things like the bridal party will be walking to “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” by Iz and for the walk back down the aisle we are doing “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” by Queen.

We had a combination of traditional and non-traditional for our processional. The bridal party walked down to a piano version of Canon in D and I walked down to Falling in Love in a Coffee Shop by Landon Pigg. The two songs flowed nicely and I really liked walking to something with such sweet lyrics.
