09.27.08 - And Then They Danced

September 20th, 2009 @ 10:00 am by Mrs. Hydrangea

When we last left off, quite a bit ago, I mentioned our “faux” first dance. But now we get to have our first dance, for real. After all of the bridal party was introduced, it was time to bring out the folks that made everything possible, and without them, we wouldn’t be here.

As always, all photos by the incredibly talented Perez Photography!

Up first, Mr. H’s parents.

Mom and Pops H. You might remember, Mom H was already introduced as the Matron of Honor, but she sneaked back out to be introduced, yet again, with my Pops. :)

And finally, it was time for Mr. H and me to take our long awaited, much anticipated (I’m not much of a dancer) first dance. Choosing a song for us was quite the battle, but we finally narrowed it down to a song that has a bit of a back story.

My old boss had burned me a CD and I would listen to it while I cleaned and Mr. H was at work. It made me think of Mr. H a lot. One day, when I came home from work, he had a note that said to go check out the song/video he found online. It happened to be the same song that made me think of him, and it was pure coincidence. So here’s the video of the song, and a couple of shots of our dance.

And, yes, while I am no dancer, I love to sing. I’ll be damned if I didn’t sing the entire song to Mr. H while we were out there on the floor. It was all I could do to keep my nerves of slow dancing in public at bay.

One of my fav shots. Love us out there, love our logo lighting us up, and it’s the best shot of the back of my dress all bustled.

When our last dance was over, instead of a traditional father/daughter dance (I get my lack of slow dancing ability from Pops H), Pops H gave a toast to us, to our families, and to begin the night. You could tell he was nervous; he had gone as far as to type and print out his speech at work. It was heartfelt and MUCH more appropriate for our relationship then a first dance.

Up next? Some final details, we cut the cake, and play a little trick on Mr. H’s family during the garter toss.

I am totally with you on the awkward slow dancing with your dad thing. I like your speech idea so much, I think I just might steal it. Thanks!

So sweet that you and your Dad did what felt right. I’m so glad my Dad likes to cut a rug though, because Mr. MB sure doesn’t. Beautiful pictures.

I really love the picture of you two dancing with your logo all over. So beautiful.

Also, how great that you were able to avoid akward bride & dad dancing and still have a special moment!
