Our birthdays (6 days and 2 years apart) fell so close to our wedding date that we elected to keep down the birthday spending this year in order to more seriously save for our first home. Plus, we just had a fabulous party with everyone we love and got loads of fabulous gifts about a month ago.

So, we headed down to Newport, RI this weekend for the International Boat Show, hit up my absolute favorite sandwich place, climbed around on a few million dollar yachts and lived vicariously through those who were actually buying them. The weather was gorgeous all day and then we met up with some friends for a low-key dinner.

Mr. Gloss also vowed to be my personal chef for the entire weekend and he makes a mean breakfast sandwich.

Have any of your typical holidays or spending habits changed to account for wedding spending?

@Mrs. Bruschetta: It’s this tiny place in Bristol called Papa Joe’s Wrap Shack - they have a sandwich called ‘The Bristolian’ which is fried calamari, garlic mayo, mozzerella cheese and greens and it is SO delish

Happy birthday! I just turned 25 last Wednesday. My fiance’s b-day is in November and we are definitely saving for the wedding so we decided to buy one present together for both of us: a kitty!

Ooooo Happy Birthday! Loverboy and I are 51 weeks apart. His birthday, 3-8-88 and my birthday 3-15-87. It’s fun and we’ve toyed around with waiting for a wedding date in between our birthdays!

So happy to hear you went to RI (my home state) for your birthday! And what a souvineer that boat would have been. We’re doing the wedding rings as Christmas presents to save some $ and trying to limit unecessary spending but it’S really hard when we are attending weddings, birthday parties and baptisims that require travel and gifts.
