Mrs. Moonbeam, Los Angeles/San Antonio Age and Occupation: 26, Intern Architect Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Studio Analyst, aspiring Screenwriter Engagement Date: May 20, 2009 Wedding Date: November 2009 Venue: Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church (LaCoste, TX) and Mary Gray Events Center (Castroville, TX) About Me: I was born and raised in Texas, but after college I moved to Seattle for a couple of years and loved it. Then I followed my beau out here to LA and we're getting settled in. I've been making things since I can remember. I was raised by crafters. I love to sew, draw, paint, build, cook, bake (anything with a tangible end result is fair game). In that same spirit, I've been hosting since I was old enough to cook and set a fancy table. I kind of take after my grandmother, who believes that your morning OJ always tastes better out of the good crystal.

Pew Decorations

September 21st, 2009 @ 5:44 pm by Mrs. Moonbeam

I don’t have a decent picture of them, but our pews have a 6″ wide side piece that extends above the backrest of the pew, which leaves them perfect for tying a ribbon around. So, I decided to incorporate some of those fabric flowers into this ribbon project.

Cut the ribbon to length, about 3’, and tack it down at the neck of the ’knot’.

Tack on some of the flowers, hand stitch on some beads, and throw on some bits of lace or other embellishments. Properly snip the ends and hang it up. Pardon the over-starched mini ironing board, it’s about the same size as the ’pew projection’.

I think I might want to use some wider ribbon on this and play with the dimensions a bit, but I like the general idea. I think about 20 should make a nice addition to the church.

Are you decorating your pews with anything unconventional? What are your plans?

Those are very cute!! I like that they’re not the standard white pew bow.

Ahh!! I’m getting so excited for your pretty fabric/paper flower wedding :)
That’s a really cute pew decoration. We’re unsure if our ceremony is going to be in the church or outside…

how sweet! i haven’t seen anything like that. I love that they’re just slightly off center and uneven.

Love it! We won’t be getting married in a church so we won’t have pews, but I love your idea cuz I’ve never seen it before!

cute! Our church won’t let us decorate with anything besides real flowers. And they said all the flowers have to be donated to them afterward.

So we aren’t decorating the church at all! We can’t afford that!

I like these bows better than the traditional pew bow! I think some wider ribbon will make them just perfect.

OMG those are so adorable! That’s been my project as of late, and I was stumped cause I didn’t want to do poms, really, but a variation on this might be awesome!

Those look great! If you were going to reserve a front pew or two for family members, you could probably find a way to attach your Reserved signs to those as well!
