Mrs. Frozen Yogurt's Picture
Mrs. Frozen Yogurt, Dallas Age and Occupation: 28, Special Projects Coordinator Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Equity Trader Engagement Date: March 19, 2009 Wedding Date: April 2010 Venue: Marie Gabrielle, Dallas About Me: I was born and raised in Texas, and have lived in several of the cities across the state, but I currently reside in Austin. I went to college in Boston and have a special place in my heart for the Northeast. I love reading, shopping, wine, reuniting with college friends that are scattered across the country, reality TV, trying out new recipes, and attempting all the DIY projects that come along with wedding planning. I'm a "bleeding heart, save the world type" and thankfully my job allows me to work on legislation and policy to help out those in need. I met Mr. Frozen Yogurt in a bar, though he doesn't even drink! And now we are planning a modern yet vintage wedding in Dallas while dealing with the trials and tribulations of first time homeownership.

The Grand Exit

September 21st, 2009 @ 11:03 am by Mrs. Frozen Yogurt

What will we do for the big send off? Your guess is as good as mine. I have some ideas of things we’re considering, but nothing is a definite yet.

I like the idea of petals.

But I know it can be costly, can stain clothing, and it’s pretty traditional… which I like to think we’re not.

I also like bubbles. I think they make gorgeous photos, and my sister used them, so they hold a special place in my heart.

Did you see that old man? Adorable!

And then there is ecofetti, which is newer and safe for the environment, but still makes a cute photo.

I also recently heard about people using lavender. When people step on it, it releases a yummy, calming fragrance into the air.

Sparklers are also popular, and definitely make for some gorgeous photos.

Look at that LOVE image—precious!

And lastly, I’ve heard of people using poms. I think they are so cute, and sort of vintage.

You see that last picture? Yep, they make a mess, and would require clean up. But I really like that I haven’t seen anyone use them before.

Which sendoff would you choose?

We’re going the bubble route. I wrapped them in tulle and tied them with blue ribbons. Good luck figuring out your send-off!

I always answer this question when asked, but it’s b/c it was one of my favorite parts of the wedding. We used streamer throws. So much fun, so colorful, great pictures, and easy clean-up b/c they stay attached to the throwers hand so churches and other places don’t get all freaked out by them. http://tiny.cc/JLZyQ

Oh man. I recently blogged about my bad decision to use eco-fetti. Check it out. Seriously. In retrospect I would have gone for something like bubbles, or nothing at all. Hehe. http://august15bride.blogspot.com/2009/09/eco-fetti-hurts.html

we didn’t have a throw and I wish we had considered one in retrospect (sparklers would have been great at our venue). Personally I love the pom idea and would love to attend a wedding that used them!

I think poms would be soooo cute — but you’re right, they’d also make a mess!

I like sparklers! We can’t use them at my church or reception site so we are using flags. :)

I love ribbon wands if you can’t throw anything (like us) - no bubbles on camera lenses, similar impact to sparklers but good for the daytime or avoiding burning holes in clothes. Plus, you can make them as cool as you’d like by doing complicated wands (swivel hooks, anyone?), painting them, tying on lots of great ribbon, or even attaching small silver bells!

These are all really cool ideas. I hadn’t heard of the lavender, I bet that makes everything smell so good!

The poms is something that I have never heard of before either…something to consider!

I really like the poms - good idea! The cleanup would be negligible I think compared to how neat they would be! I’ve always loved bubbles and sparklers, though, and think I’d lean more towards one of them!

I really like the bubbles, sparklers, and streamer ideas. I just like the idea of nothing being stuck to me, in my hair, or being pelted with something that might hurt!

You can never go wrong with sparklers or flower petals.

We had pom poms at my sister’s wedding, all made by hand by my sister, her friends and me. You can see a few on my blog. We used them as table decorations and strung on streamers and threw them as they came out of the church. The cute things about pom poms is that so many people liked them and ended up taking them home. The mess after throwing them was negligable because most people picked them up (to throw at each other) and ended up taking them away. Of course, there was a fair amount of pom pom throwing between guests at the reception (mostly by my sister and her husband’s student friends and some small children).

My vote is for the sparklers or bubbles!

August15bride: I think your picture pretty much sums it up … don’t use ecofetti! It looks painful!

Sparklers freak me out … and I don’t want people waving them at me =)

I think lavender would be so messy and gross? Wouldn’t it get everywhere? I love the smell but anytime I’ve encountered lavender it’s a huge mess.

I love the streamers from Favorsyoukeep … never saw those before!

I’ve always leaned toward rose petals though.
