About Miss Parfait

Mr. Parfait Dreams Up the Day

September 22nd, 2009 @ 3:33 pm by Miss Parfait

When we first got engaged, Mr. Parfait and I spent a night separately writing out our ideas of the “dream wedding”. If you can’t tell from the premise, this was totally my idea. :) We wrote what we’d choose for each element of a wedding if our budget, time, and resources were limitless, and then we compared our lists. Let’s start with Mr. Parfait’s notes, shall we? These are the quick notes he jotted down that night:

Music: A DJ that we know… but will play some of our favorite songs. I am sure if we started to record the ones we love together, we will have a nice list. I want to stay away from typical “white people” wedding songs. Does this make sense? I think it does.

Colors: Blue and white… the blue can be a contrast of blues, but they have to be the color of a blue rose. I think the color of a blue rose should be the basis for all napkins and silverware, etc.

Flowers: Blue roses everywhere… petals, too. White flowers can complement them. Blue and white will be the theme colors, and the flowers can really make this. Blue orchids? I think I would like this a lot. Since most blue flowers are dyed, it should be possible to get a variety.

Photographer: Someone who chooses interesting angles and colors. I really don’t see the need to pay someone to take everyday normal pictures. Ya kno’? I don’t know how to communicate this to the photographer, though.

Location: Someplace that has a classy feeling to it when you drive up. The decor on the inside doesn’t have to be as fancy, but I want people to feel special that they are coming into this place for our wedding. Getting married outside would be the best… I REALLY would love this.

Food: I want filet mignon and some sort of grilled chicken. Veggies/seafood can all be chosen by the future Mrs. Parfait. Alcohol will be free for guests, especially Serbian drinks.

Size: Medium-sized wedding. I suppose 200-300, which may seem large at first, but that really will be just enough to fit all of the key people in our lives.

Bride’s Dress: Something fitted so I can see Miss Parfait’s curves, but obviously I want it to be classy more than sexy. I want to see a veil and some sort of hanging part… ya know, so little girls in cute dresses can carry it off the floor. I want your hair to be up, but for you to have two pieces on each side of the head that fall in front of your face. Does this make sense? I picture it, and it is beautiful.

Groom’s Suit: Gray pin-striped suit with a white or baby blue vest and/or tie. Something to bring out my eyes and match the blue roses! :D (See a theme?) Spiky hair… 1 week old from being cut!

Bride’s Girlzz: A light blue dress… something cute and fun. I want them to be able to move and dance in it! This is important so they have a good time!

Groom’s Boyzz: A black suit with a blue tie that match one another. I think even if the suits are cut differently, they should have the same shoes.

Rings: Simple/classy wedding rings. Gunmetal would be nice… a grey color, of sorts.

I’ll share what I wrote that night, next!

Did your man have specific ideas about the wedding? Did any of them surprise you?

My guy insisted that I wore a white-white dress and that I wore my hair down. Ironically, ivory didn’t look very good on me so it worked. I have my first trial hair-do in a few weeks. That’s what he was dead-set on. Everything else is very negotiable. :)

This is hilarious, I particularly liked his description of the dress train as a “hanging part.” I think my FH would laugh hysterically if I asked him to do this and then say something to the effect of, “I have no clue about any of this and I have never once thought about it, and I don’t plan to start now”….boys!

My husband didn’t even know where the reception was on the day of the wedding! He had to follow me there.

I’m so envious of brides who have fiances who have opinions! I love all of the detail and that he’s given the whole wedding a lot of thought!

I asked Mr Spin first off–”Is there anything in particular that you want at our wedding?”
He looked very blank and said, “Like what?” I was like, “A favorite cake flavor? Anything specific for dinner? A certain color you want to wear? Any types of flowers you like?” Still very blank. Ultimately he said his only requirement was that the DJ didn’t suck. lol. Ok then. :)

Mr Frenchie really wanted our wedding to have a country feel… he was adamant about using the RB Winery and kinda had to talk me into after I had found something else I loved. I’m really glad he did :) I loved that Mr Frenchie was so involved in our wedding vision, you’re lucky Mr Parfait is too.

Wow - he is sooo involved and surprisingly informed about weddings - when ever I get engaged … I’m pretty sure this is something loverboy and I will do - he’s getting more excited about planning the wedding, too - so I think he would take to this concept - thanks for the great idea!

Mr. Mojito has become quite involved in our wedding process as well :-). We were in Cabo when we got engaged so we spent alot of afternoons over cocktails discussing our dream wedding :-)

Wow. Mr. Parfait definitely knows what he wants! Seriously, I think this was a great idea. When I asked my fiance all he said was “good food, good music (a live band), and to make sure that we have fun”. He’s better with writing (rather than verbalizing) his ideas, so maybe I should have had him write down a list like yours of what he wants out of his wedding.

My fiance has been pretty involved in the planning thus far (venue, honeymoon, and photographers). His opinions surprise me because they are so random. I asked him what he thinks my wedding dress will look like and he described cap sleeves (every dress I tried on was strapless or had small straps). He also had opinions on the color scheme (nothing too girly) - but then he really loved our colors - navy and fuschia and pink is as girly as it gets.

I absolutely love shades of blue … my sisters MOH dress is the same rich sapphire color of the dress in your first inspiration board. I chose to have no bridesmaids and custom made her dress and fell in love with blue! That that became my favorite color.

P.S. I didn’t know there are blue roses!

P.P.S. How cute is that that these are your fiances notes?

I’ve been faux planning our wedding for a while now (he hasn’t proposed yet), so when we do get engaged it will be crucial that I take the time to get his ideas on paper– I just know how his sheet will look: don’t care, don’t care, MUST have XYZ, MUST have ABC… he won’t have specifics on everything, but when he does it’s going to be things he’s totally committed to having!
