Quick and Easy Drink Tags

September 23rd, 2009 @ 2:35 pm by Mrs. Penguin

I had high aspirations for the shower I’m throwing. I was so tempted to go out and buy every cute citrus-themed party item I could find. Luckily for my checkbook, Mr. Peng took the car to work every day this week, meaning if I wanted something, I’d have to walk to get it, or make it on my own. :) So, my lazy ass has decided to only use things I have around the house. I only have 10 champagne glasses, which means that if someone misplaces her glass, she’s drinking from the bottle. So, I thought I’d make some drink tags! I tried a wine charm-type name tag, but the way my champagne glasses are shaped, they wouldn’t lie flat above the foot of the glass. Also, I was worried that spilled drinks would smudge the inkjet ink on the tags. So, I utilized the undersides of the glasses instead. Sneaky. These are orange-slice themed, but of course you could just print whatever you want on these things.

First, measure the foot of one of your glasses and create circles (this image was purchased from Istockphoto here) in your chosen design program that are slightly smaller than your glass. Add names of your guests, and print.

Cut out your circles, and add a couple glue dots (I use Zots for everythinggggg) to the front sides of your name tags.

Stick them to the UNDERSIDE of your glasses.

These are kind of fun. They almost look like the glasses were custom made for each gal!

By the way, our champagne glasses are from Crate and Barrel and they no longer stock these anymore. Thank goodness, because they are IMPOSSIBLE to clean. Gook (like citrus pulp) gets stuck at the bottom, and I have to wrap a tiny piece of soapy cotton on a chopstick to clean the last bit at the bottom. UGH.

Those look so good that it looks like those name tags belong on those glasses permanently. I’d almost be afraid the ladies will take them home thinking they were favors!

We do mimosas for every tailgate and people are always misplacing their glasses (and drinking out of others). I am definitely stealing this idea!
Thanks :)

Buy the baby bottle cleaning brushes :) I keep these around for cleaning out water bottles – but they work great for lots of hard to clean stuff!

So awesome! I’m totally going to use this at home…even if I only make one with my name on it and I’m all alone. :)
