A Memorable Guest Book

September 24th, 2009 @ 1:46 pm by Miss Parfait

guestbook1

Do you see what I see?

I see a book I would LOVE to make, but may not have the memory (and patience) to create.

This is a guestbook from a wedding over at Snippet and Ink. The couple saved receipts, ticket stubs, and other memorabilia from their years-long relationship. They used the artifacts to create a lovely book, made even more special with the notes and signatures of their wedding guests!

guestbook2

I have boxes and boxes of memories with Mr. Parfait. If I want a book like this in time for my wedding, I’d better start sorting through all of this:

guestbook3

Sigh, there’s a lot more where that came from, and it’s not nearly as artfully arranged. Are you a pack-rat when it comes to relationship memorabilia? Do you, like me, place sentimental value on the most mundane things? Instead of sliding boxes of them into the uppermost shelves of my closet, it would be so much more convenient and sweet to display them in a book! I’m putting this on my “To-Do-Possibly-If-I-Have-Time” list. :)

What are you planning to do with your mementos?

I totally have that same inspiration bookmarked. Except that I am not a collector, so sadly i don’t have souvenirs like this bride did! Looks like you do… if you get the time, I will look forward to seeing what you come up with!

I used to keep EVERY single little things but since we got married and moved in together, we don’t have the space, so my hubby made me throw away some! :(

I love that idea, though! Awesome!

I saw that on another blog and totally am stealing the idea for our guest book. Fortunately I’m a ridiculous packrat and have tons of ticket stubs and programs and notes, and I’m also quite camera-happy so I have pictures aplenty as well. I can’t wait to get started on it! In fact, I recently bought a scanner/printer combo to make my life easier on things like this :)

I loved that guestbook when I saw it on Snippet and Ink! Like MJ, I don’t really have very many memontos of our relationship, but it’s a GREAT idea if you do!

I wish I had saved more of our relationship mementos. I have movie ticket stubs and other little items from about the first year or so. From that point on there are probably only a few little things here and there that I have. It’s a very sweet project! :)

My FI is not into clutter at all so its pulling teeth to get him to keep things! One thing we did save up were our tickets from every football game last season (national championship included)… I’m using them to make his wedding present!

oh my gosh I LOVE LOVE LOVE this idea! If I were still planning our wedding I’d totally do this for our guest book. But I think I’ll make one just to have now. 7 Years together and we have boxes of stuff like this. Thanks for the great idea Parfait!

WOW! That is awesome! I have some mementos here and there, but nothing like that! I WISH I did. Actually, the Mr. is the memento saver. After years of being yelled at by my mom for being a packrat I started tossing things like movie stubs. :-(

@rosychicklet: I was just about to comment on that card as well. My hubby gave it to me on our 1-month dating anniversary. While we didn’t save ticket stubs, etc we have saved cards…and that one is still one of my faves! :)

I’ve saved EVERYTHING from the mister. haha. It would be cool to have everything in a book like that… so even if something happens to the stuff, you’ve got a copy of it! All in one place!

I did this for my Wedding! It was such a hit. I love the book I made from blurb. They now allow you to resize images so you can make ticket stubs and things the right size. :) I am still saving stuff so I’ll eventually make another book of memories.

Currently we have a box dedicated to just our relationship mementos. We didn’t realize till 4 years later that we NEVER dated our cards so we don’t know which came first. It makes me sad.

For the wedding, I copied and printed our favorite homemade cards to each other, his “paintings” with poems and including them on our centerpieces. I didn’t want the originals to be used in case a guest wanted to take our homemade card to each other or something.

I don’t save anything. I’m terrible! And then I see sweet books like that and wish that I wasn’t always so quick to get rid of things.

I am very much a pack rat. I have movie stubs, concert tickets etc. I have the ticket stubs from the movie we saw the night we got engaged and definitely want to do something with them in a scrapbook.

I love that I idea, but unfortunately I just tossed all of our movie tix and receipts they all had faded! :( When I made a photobook on Snapfish of our first year together wish I would have thought of that!

That’s such a cute book!! I’ve started another small scrapbook that will be used for our guestbook. Its using small envelopes for the guests to deposit messages =]

I’m doing that for my guestbook. With pictures as well. I’m a horrible packrat and this allows me to put it all to good use. We’re a long distance couple so I have tons of boarding passes and cards to put in there. I can finally organize the clutter in my life and have an awesome wedding/relationship souvenir.

Such a great idea! I too have saved everything– even stuff like chocolate wrappers and flower petals. I’d love to use them on something this cute!

That is such a cool book! =) We’re doing a photo guest book and wishing rocks, but I love the sentimentality of this one. Unfortunately, I don’t have any ticket stubs or such. =D I did save the movie ticket from our first date, but the writing faded so much I had to throw it out.

That would be really cute! You could always get a plain notebook to use for your guestbook and then add the mementos after the wedding (if you run out of time before).

I am such a scrapbooker, and love making little things similar to this. Our guestbook ended up being a mini-scrapbook with a photo of hubby and I on the left and space for our guests to write a message on the right. I think it turned out super cute, and I know our guests got a kick out of the photos of us throughout our relationship…
