Dress Dreams

September 24th, 2009 @ 11:34 am by Mrs. Lamb

I already have my dress. It’s a loooooooooooooooong story, which is most certainly forthcoming. It’s a tear jerker (sad and funny tears all at once!) for sure, and I can’t wait for it hit the prime time, but for now you’ll just have to settle for these dreamy dresses.

If I were ambitious enough to sew my own dress (a la Miss Poodle!), I would promptly buy this pattern:

Dress Dreams : wedding wedding dress Il 430x072

NanasSewingBasket.Etsy.com is chock full of vintage patterns. Can you imagine this dress in a champagne brocade for a Jackie O inspired cocktail reception? Come to momma, vintage dress!

If I were ambitious enough to sew my bridesmaids dresses (and wanted to willfully impose my taste on them), I would promptly buy this pattern:

Dress Dreams : wedding wedding dress Il 430x073

PatternPeddler.Etsy.com also has a great collection of vintage dress patterns. I think these dresses in yummy silk would be amazing. Notice how the dresses on the packaging match our color palette? Be still my fluttering vintage dress obsessed heart!

If I decided I were not ambitious, but still wanted the look, I would promptly order this dress:

Dress Dreams : wedding wedding dress Il 430x074

Hello cutey-patootie-ness! Seriously. Thank you Amanda Archer for rocking my world.

I hope someone else enjoys these as much as I do – and then sends me pictures so that I know these dresses found happy homes! Sheesh, you’d think they were puppies on the SPCA website… I just can’t take something cute staring right at me. That’s why I can’t window shop (for dogs or dresses) – who knows what I might come home with!

What are some of your favorite dress patterns and where do you go to find them?

Wow, after an opening paragraph like that, you can’t wait too much longer before talking about YOUR dress! You’re such a tease! :-)

I desperately want the Amanda Archer dresses for my sisters but I already told them they could pick their own (and my older sister would definitely not shell out the money). I can’t wait to see your actual dress!

My mother made my reception dress from a vintage pattern! But what struck me about your post is that the image in the beginning looks like the vintage dress I found and wore for the rehearsal dinner. You should keep your eyes open and look through vintage online shops — that’s where I found mine!

Gorgeous dresses!

Don’t you just love all of Amanda Archer’s dresses? I’m almost sure that we’re going to go through her for our BM dresses. So cute!

i like that last one too! after just recently mastering the skill of sewing a button, there’s no way i’d think to sew something more drastic like a dress. i can just barely sew up a hem. those seven weeks in home ec didn’t produce much in terms of usable skills. lol

I love those designs! I found this one at the ever-so-popular David’s Bridal (style# F13620) that has a similar cut. (I think that that cut looks good on anyone!) Thank you for introducing me to Amanda Archer!

My mom has been collecting patterns forever and has enough fabric to sink the Titanic, so I usually start at her house and move on from there!

I love all things vintage. I’ll have to check this out. I wish I could sew or that my mother still did.
