Mrs. Dachshund, Fresno, CA Age and Occupation: 24, Legal Office Assistant Fiance's Age and Occupation: 27, Computer Technician Engagement Date: April 18, 2009 Wedding Date: May 2010 Venue: Victorian Gardens of Two Sisters About Me: I’m a 24-year-old Californian bride-to-be who found love in the most unlikely of places - an online video game! I’m a farmer’s daughter living in rural Central California, but will always have a special place in my heart for the city. My future husband is a 27-year-old extraordinarily tall, exceptionally cute, and undoubtedly Canadian boy who was able to sweep me off my feet and take me for his bride. I love color, folksy songs that make me smile, interior design, kettle corn, my one-year-old puppy, Juno, and my fiance, of course! We’re planning a DIY garden wedding with a laundry-list of projects, all while dealing with the bureaucracy that is American Immigration!

Help Us Choose…

… our Hallowedding invitations!

One of the reasons I’m so excited about our “Hallowedding” party is that we’ll have such creative freedom over the decor… anything goes! But, Halloween is in just over a month. That’s not a whole lot of time considering I have projects for our actual wedding in the works. My first priority is figuring out what we’re going to do for our Halloween invitations; I only have about a week before they need to be sent out, and I haven’t even started them yet!

Here’s where you come in:

I have a handful of ideas for our invitations, but I just can’t decide. If you were a prospective guest, which invitation would impress you the most?

Message in a bottle invites from Martha

Those bottles are actually pretty inexpensive. They’d be packed and shipped in small mailing tubes.

Also from Martha

True, these might be a little bit gruesome, but they’re fitting with the spirit of Halloween! I thought it’d be kinda cute to put a nickel machine ring on the finger.

Obviously these don’t scream “Halloween” now. Picture a black and orange invitation card lying on top of candy corn or black and orange gum balls all packaged up into a cute black box.

I like the idea of a bat-winged pocketfold. Maybe minus the head and chicken feet.

I do prefer a few of these over the others, but I’d love to hear your opinions! Which invitation would be best for our Hallowedding?

I really like the candy idea - fun and something to eat. The pocketfold is nice too and might not cost as much in postage.

either the candy or the finger. though i can see myself getting freaked out when first opening it. hmm. is there a way to cut a hole in the bottom and instruct people to stick their finger in there and then open? lol. maybe that’s sillier.

I kinda think it would depend a little bit on the overall theme… are you going over the top with the halloween scary theme? Do the fingers. If it will be pretty traditional with some halloween touches? Go with the candy boxes. Also, was just perusing Martha’s site, and there are some GREAT ideas… paper bats and mice, veggies submerged in all types of vases to look like body part specimens, and some more subtly spooky ideas too, like flower arrangements with spiderwebs, etc. Go to town!

would it be too macabre to do the finger with a faux-engagement ring on it?

i’m partial to the martha stewart tube one, but only because I’m a scientist and they look really science-y.

I think the message in a bottle is so different! I like that and the candy boxes…but I’m admittedly less of a Halloween girl (I can never think of costumes!) so I might be biased against the finger ;)

My favorite is the candy one. I was thinking you could do candy corn (is it’s soo halloween-y)

Second: finger..I don’t think it’s gruesome either.

I also like the bat and I thought I would give you this since you wanted them without legs and such.

I remember seeing it when I was looking for inspiration for our Halloween party invites.

i like the finger. they sell finger soaps on etsy (http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=28761699&ref=sr_list_3&&ga_search_query=finger+soap&ga_search_type=handmade&ga_page=&order=price_asc&includes[]=tags&includes[]=title).

the box of candy would be my second choice.

I really like the first one. And you could also throw some candy in those glass bottles.

I like the message in a bottle the best. It’s something I would do if we had a smaller guestlist and could afford the postage. ;)
