Mrs. Star, New York City Age and Occupation: 22, Actress Fiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Casting Assistant Wedding Date: October 2009 Venue: Ceremony: The Kraine Theatre, Reception: Midtown Loft & Terrace About Me: I’m a professional actress who’s always had New York City in her blood and I'm finally getting the chance to make a home in Manhattan with my fiancé, my dog, and my big dreams! I love polka dots, craft projects, Dunkin’ Donuts’ iced coffee, and anything sparkly. I’m having a blast planning our elegant/dramatic/New York City/acting-themed/largely-DIY wedding and am thrilled to be the youngest current Miss Blogger!
About Mrs. Star

Like Miss Beagle, I have a really hard time letting people help me out. I guess I think it makes me look weak or like I’m failing to accomplish everything that I had set out to do. Logically, I know it’s silly to feel this way, but I struggle with being able to delegate in actuality.

Well, folks, we’re headed into the home stretch over here at the Star household, and some of my intended craft projects were starting to fall by the wayside. That is, until people started generously stepping up and helping out without me even asking!

At first, I was hesitant because I’m such a control freak. But my options were either 1. don’t have things like rehearsal dinner invites because they’re not necessary and I’m running out of time, or 2. let my fabulous MOH handle them herself, since she so graciously offered.

I am so glad she did, because she did a fabulous job!

Living Proof That Delegating Actually Works : wedding invitation rehearsal stationery Img 453 IMG_453

Doesn’t it look just like something I would have done myself? She knows me so well. :)

So here I am saying thank you to my wonderful MOH and wanting to share with the world (or at least, the hive!) how well delegating really can work out.

What have you gotten help with? Was it hard for you to let some projects go?

Oh man, delegating the last month or so helped to *almost* keep me sane — I shudder to think what a mess I would’ve been if I hadn’t asked for ANY help. My mom and sister — as well as Mr. Bruschetta of course — were huuuuuuge helps!

The invites are really cute!
It is hard to delegate… especially if you’re a perfectionist (like me) I’m learning to ask for help though :)

Good Job MOH Star! I think it’s so hard because we all want every aspect to be perfect in our eyes. As I learned the hard way, sometimes done is better than being done perfectly. This is especially true if being done perfectly involves tears and fighting and/or a trip to the emergency room!

I love the invitations! I am totally a control freak. My MOH (sister) and I got into it the other night. She says I don’t let her help and I want to do everything myself. It was a real eye opener, so I have decided to not be so controling and allow others to help. It will be hard, but I’m sure when my wedding date gets closer, I will be begging for help. I get nervous just thinking that someone else will be in charge of projects…LOL!!!

Wow, those look great and she did a fab job. I understand completely about letting things go. My DIY project list is a bazillion miles long and I know if I want most of it accomplished, I best start letting my friends and family help me. Thanks for the encouragement.

I need to start practicing my delegating skills. I am SO BAD at relinquishing control.
