Mr. Joey and I have been together for 5 years and so by now, we’ve met each other’s immediate family and actually are all quite close. We’re really fortunate that we each get along really, really well with our in-laws.
Because all of Mama Joey’s family live in Seattle, Mr. Joey has had the chance to meet and interact with them quite a bit. Unfortunately for us, Mr. Joey’s extended family lives in California, he doesn’t get to see them much. I had never met any of his aunts, uncles or cousins. Thankfully, some of Mr. Joey’s family decided to join us for the wedding, and his cousin Cate even agreed to read during the ceremony.
The rehearsal dinner was a great way for our families to meet each other. Mr. Joey’s immediate family had heard of nutty Sister Joey but had never met her. I had heard stories about Mr. Joey’s cousins, but never met them. Finally, everyone got to meet.

The other great thing about the rehearsal dinner was that my families got to meet each other. Family from Papa Joey’s side flew in from Sri-Lanka and London and finally got to meet Mama Joey’s family who live here.

Our extended families won’t meet before our dinner either :).
We are having an engagement party so that the families can meet before the wedding.
our extended families probably won’t meet until the days surrounding our wedding since his live in michigan and mine are in cali and korea!
Most of our family members did not meet each other at all because we didn’t invite most of them to the wedding. I am quite certain at this point they will never meet. Too much drama! You are lucky you both have such great families!
Ours won’t be meeting either until the “Welcome BBQ”. Our families are in different countries & for a lot of his family, our wedding will be the first time they even leave the US.
All of our immediate family had met, but I was super glad to have created name-tags and cheat sheets prior to our Thursday BBQ. Cheat sheets were a hit! Next to my Nana’s it said: Penn State Officionado; Wino. She hooked up with my fiance’s Uncle who also loves wine! It was super easy and helped conversation flow…
Wow, it’s so awesome that your mom’s family finally got to meet your dad’s family at one of your celebrations! I can’t wait to see my family meet Mr. Parfait’s…they’re so different, but I think they’ll all get along quite well. 
We got engaged and then called our parents and then they headed down to Castroville to meet each other without us there. Everyone was there for the California wedding though. How awesome that your Uncle came in from Sri Lanka.

Looks like a fun group! Our parents actually met years before we started dating–when they sat together at our college band parents banquet!
Most of our family met at the rehearsal dinner as well. My family has met DH’s mom and brother, but not his dad or any other relatives. It made the RD really fun!
