My parents lived in the same house for most of my life, up until a few years ago when they moved back to Massachusetts. When you live somewhere for that long, there is a good chance that your neighbors become more like family. We were no exception, and I grew up with a pseudo big sister who is about six years older then me. I’m pretty sure she was still in high school when I informed her for the first time that I was going to eventually need both a flower girl and ring bearer for my wedding and I was counting on her to make that happen. She always just laughed at me, especially when I told her husband of this request on their wedding day. Sure enough, three years ago they had a little girl who I absolutely adore. And then less than two years ago they rounded it off with a bouncing baby boy who I also fell in love with at first sight.
Our ring bearer (who we will call little man, because he really does look like a little man!) is still pretty young; he will be only 20 months on the big day. People started warning me early on, here we are having an adult only affair and I was expecting a BABY to go down the aisle. But I was determined. My two favorite kiddos were going to be there. And I just knew little man would be walking, quite well even, down the aisle (we had a pep talk when he was a few months old, and I took his silence as an agreement that he would be good to go).
Well what do you know, he is a little walking fool. My big sister and her husband both had him practicing in shoes early, so he’s a pro now. And he looks pretty freakin’ fantastic in his tux, if I do say so myself. Yes, he is 18 months now, but built like a three year old.

The princess is old enough to understand what’s going on with this whole wedding thing, or at least knows that she gets to wear a pretty dress and carry some flowers. Every time I see her she whispers in my ear her most fantastic little secret: “I’m going to be a flower girl in your wedding and get to wear a dress like you!” Trust me, you could just melt! Her dress just came in, and you can tell by the pictures she is smitten!

The dress was ordered from The Briar Patch, and they are HIGHLY recommended! If you have kiddos in your wedding, you know how difficult it can be to pull their ensembles together. I had decided early on what I wanted them to wear, but we couldn’t order it all because who knew what size they would be! Even three months out when we were seriously looking, sizing was an issue. But the folks at The Briar Patch were super helpful, shipping was quick, and the price was right! I really wasn’t into asking her parents to spend a fortune on a dress she will only wear once and then quickly grow out of.
Oh and her shoes? You can see them peeking out just a bit, but I was not going to steer my girl wrong. If I am going to wear some killer red shoes, so is she!

AHH! I love them!! A little bargain at Target makes her flower girl debut PERFECT!!
Do you have any little ones in your wedding? What are they wearing?
