About Mrs. Parfait

A Perfectly Playful Proposal

September 27th, 2009 @ 1:05 pm by Mrs. Parfait

In my earlier posts, I hinted at the bunny theme in our wedding. I will tease you no more; here’s the scoop!

Mr. Parfait’s last name means bunny in Serbian. Within the family, there have been cottontails worn at weddings, children named after famous bunnies, and numerous rabbit-y nicknames! I love it, and I can’t wait to be his Mrs. Bunny (and Mrs. Parfait)!

Playing up my future last name at a photobooth.

And now we’re all caught up and ready for the proposal story:

Mr. Parfait and I love playing silly games together. Disney Scene-It is one of our classics, but we also have a special talent of making up games on the spot. Early in our relationship, we made up competitive games with the book I Spy. Yes, the search-and-find children’s book. :) We marveled at the detail and work that went into each photo. Each page was a work of art!

For our engagement, Mr. Parfait secretly created his own I Spy! He, of course, went with a bunny theme. After filling a ping-pong table with bunny toys, he spent a whole evening snapping photos, rearranging bunnies, adjusting lights, and reviewing edits with his sister-in-law and grandmother. Finally, he took it to a printing store to have it blown up on a thick board.

On a chilly February night, he took me out to a romantic dinner. Afterwards, he asked me to wait while he pulled up the car. I watched him walk away… and then walk back with some enormous thing behind his back! He asked me to go on a walk with him. When we reached a fountain, he pulled it out, and I gasped at all the sweet bunny fluffiness.

He made me find objects, words, and finally, my ring! Then he got down on one knee…

And well, I didn’t keep him waiting! You should hear Mr. Parfait describe how I responded when he asked me to marry him. According to him, there was quite a bit of trembling (it was cold!… And exciting!) and “OH MY GOSH”-ing and tiny gasping noises. Ahem. I remember being much more calm and ladylike as he slid the ring on my finger. ;) Here we are, seconds after the proposal:

As for the I Spy bunnies? I loved them! I never saw it coming, and like many girls, I love a sweet surprise! It was a hit with our family and friends afterwards, too! Here’s my best bud trying to find all the items:

Some of our loved ones came over that night to celebrate with a few of my favorite things: fondue, cake, and chocolate!

It was the perfect proposal for a hopeless romantic like me.

@bunny: Heehee, you make a perfect Mrs. Bunny! I’ve loved your sweet posts.

@Ruby Slippers and @CrstnBeach: I guess I’ll let others have a chance to find it before I point it out. :)

@bunnylovesbear: So many bunnies here! Your icon is really cute, by the way!

Oh my gosh, that’s so cute! =)

*sighs with envy* I both love and hate hearing about proposal stories…mine wasn’t a surprise at all (I am too good at guessing), so I’m a little jealous. ;)

The bunnies were an awesome idea, though. Love the detail.

that is incredible! I’m a bunny in a different way - Loverboy has always been into the chinese zodiac - and my year is the year of the bunny - so he always calls me bunny. I know it’s silly, but it’s us!
Your posts make me happy - I can really connect to you - Loverboy (who is my dragon, btw) and I are always playing games, making up different ways to play games, and making up games of our own.
