We decided early on that Papa Joey would skip giving a toast altogether – he gets too emotional and isn’t comfortable talking in front of crowds. We also decided that FIL Joey would give a toast at the rehearsal dinner. Papa Joey told me later he was glad he skipped giving a toast. FIL Joey is a professional speaker (a professor) and his toast was engaging, sentimental and perfect. Papa Joey was happy to leave it to the master.

Did you have multiple toasts at your rehearsal dinner, or did you keep it short and sweet?
Awww… I’m happy FIL Joey’s speech was so wonderful 
The idea of having people toast us honestly freaks me out. They all have so much dirt on me…. lol I’m scared to hear what all my family & friends have to say. My brother already told me that he’s going to give my FI a bat with a note that says “Use it wisely & use it often”. lol its a joke… but you can see what I mean. Gah!!
we didn’t so any toasts at the RD. I was too clueless and tired at that point to have anything planned for it!
Mr. Espresso was the only one who gave a speech at our RD, and that was because I told him he should seconds before… nothing like last minute to keep the nerves from coming 
At our RD, only my mom and my FIL gave a little toast, but it was more of a welcome-and-we-can’t-wait-to-celebrate-with-you-all little ditty. As for the wedding day, the speeches were some of my favorite parts of the day. The best men and our co-MOHs gave funny/beautiful/touching toasts and our parents were super sweet as well. Le sigh.
