Mrs. Ramen's Picture
Mrs. Ramen, Phoenix Age and Occupation: 26, Optometry Student Fiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Industrial Designer Engagement Date: January 3, 2009 Wedding Date: December 19, 2009 Venue: Phoenix Art Museum About Me: I'm an SF-born, Seattle-raised girl, transplanted to Phoenix where I'll be getting married, and planning all the way from Orange County where I go to school (yes, it feels as crazy as it sounds). I loooooove Yogurtland, am slightly very obsessed with all things paper, am heavily addicted to wedding blogs, deeply desire a puppy, thoroughly enjoy cooking, cry when I watch (almost all) movies, thrive on solo car-karaoke, can't stop being sarcastic, am neurotic about taking pictures of almost everything I eat before I eat it, and aspire to travel the world. My super-talented fiance and I are attempting to DIY a majority of our massive (~350 guests) "clean & modern, yet romantic, but completely unexpected, with a teeny dash of vintage" wedding, stay within our not-so-massive budget, and somehow get a really luxe (but still fun!) look/feel at the same time. In music terms (since we're both really into music) think Coldplay meets Motown meets Kanye meets Sinatra.
About Mrs. Ramen

Seriously?

September 28th, 2009 @ 3:18 pm by Mrs. Ramen

I had a minor meltdown when my Google countdown hit the 100 day mark, and now I’m realizing that we’re at about the 80 day mark. And I have um, let’s see… EVERYTHING left to do. It’s been too easy for the past couple of weeks or so to just relax (aka read Weddingbee, check email, refresh Weddingbee, check Facebook, repeat), focus on school (ehh, kinda?), and try to tell myself that I have puh-lenty of time left to get my crafting on. But, I actually don’t…

On one hand, I’m super excited to be married to my best friend and can’t wait to get to the wedding day, but on the other, much much larger, Shaq-sized hand, I’m completely TERRIFIED that my worst nightmares are coming true and we’re not going to get all of the wedding crafting done in time - not to mention, my wedding workouts. Ugh. The fact that school is starting to pile up is not helping at all.

Seriously? : wedding diy Napoleo

So, I’ve decided that I shall make myself a schedule - and actually stick to it this time. No more wasting (too much) time on the internet! (But I’ll still love technology, always and forever.)

Seriously? : wedding diy Aug Lab04 Seriously? : wedding diy Aug Lab05

I guess this is good news for the hive (I know, I know, it’s so loving and sacrificial of me); I’ve got my gratuitous-wedding Gocco in one hand, my burn-inducing glue gun in the other, and my camera USB cable plugged in - get ready for a torrent of craftiness! There’s no time to lose!

At what point in YOUR countdown did you finally kick your butt into high gear?

Oooo, a schedule. Why didn’t I think of that? Great idea, and hopefully it’ll keep you on your toes and ahead of the game! :-)

I think everyone has a meltdown about that time. I did too!
At about the 90 day mark I made up a calendar and listed the wedding tasks for each week on the calendar. It made everything much more manageable. FI and I sat down every Sunday night and looked at the calendar to see what we needed to do that week.

Now we have 2.5 weeks left and we are pretty much on track!

I’m getting there. I still have months to go, but I’m still worried that I won’t have the time to finish the hundreds of projects I have in mind.

I think a schedule is a great idea that I just might have to steal!

The “I’ll still love technology … always and forever” pretty much made my day. Thanks for that! :)

FI and I have a crazy big spreadsheet schedule. It lists EVERY task I could think of and its our master wedding planning schedule. Every task is assigned to FI or me and every task has a deadline. I’m hoping that by doing this we’ll get a bunch of things knocked off early so it will ease the pressure of the last minute things.

I am still over 200 days away from our wedding day, but I totally sympathize with you on the “school starting to pile up” comment! I’m working and going to school full time… Although school and work are coming in 2nd place even now! I can’t imagine what it’ll be like later, at least I graduate 2 months before the big day!

DD is a WAY organized and ‘do-it-ahead-of-time’ bride, but scheduling still is an issue. So far, the maps are done (Thank you again, Mrs. Ballet Flat and Miss Labrador!), as well as the decorated votives. We still have the pocketfolds, envelope liners, quilt/guestbook, ring-bearer pillows, garters, programs, wedding wands …
HMMM, maybe her anxieties are well founded, lol :-)

Hooray for DIY mania!

I’ve been such a fail-bride planning-wise. I barely have enough time for school, much less planning a wedding.

100 days as my OMG moment! Then I made the world’s longest list of things left to be done. Then, about 3 days later, I crossed half of those things off because there was no way all of that was getting done! Good luck and I can’t wait to see what crafty-ness you come up with!

Ugh we are now at 26(!!) days out, and I have a TON to do. I have seriously been slacking and need to get on the ball. I promise, on Wednesday, right after work (once school’s over for the week…)

To do lists are especially fun if you include little boxes to fill in after you’ve already crossed off the item. Double the reward! Just saying :)

The moment I land in Califronia is going to be massive craftiness at the Poodles. I feel I haven’t been able to do so many things because I just can’t carry them with me. I’m carrying the list of things a need to do instead LOL
