The Engagement Laptop

September 28th, 2009 @ 4:48 pm by Miss Parfait

As noted in previous posts, Mr. Parfait gave me a ring beyond my dreams for our engagement. I love this beautiful, incredible, expensive gift… and I wanted him to have a little keepsake, too!

So after much deliberation, I decided to get him (badabadabada <— drum roll)…………

An engagement laptop!

He’s a computer whiz, so I wanted to get him the newest and best. I had a little inspiration to start with: We saw the Smart Home at the Museum of Science and Industry, and we visited the Home of Tomorrow at Disney World. I forget if it was in both homes, but at least one featured an HP Touchsmart computer that connected to a bazillion things in the house! The icons slid across the black background with a swipe of the tour guide’s finger, and applications opened and closed with a light tap on the screen. Its visual appeal wasn’t lacking, either:

Mr. Parfait was in the market for a laptop and wanted a tablet PC for easy use on the train. And guess who makes great tablet PCs? Yep, HP also has a line of TouchSmart notebooks. Together, we found the boldest and best of the bunch. I put it in his hands shortly after the engagement, and he hasn’t put it down since!

Yeeah, it’s pretty hot. ;) Before I found the “engagement laptop”, I gave him “engagement gummies”. Heehee. I just think boys should get a taste of the engagement excitement, too!

Did you give your mister an “engagement something”?

Awww, that’s so sweet! Mr. Bru joked about wanting an “engagement watch” (which later became his desired “wedding watch”) — but we both knew the Rolexes he was drooling over were FAR out of our budget! ;-)

Mr. Doxie gets “engagement visa fees”… Immigration is expensive!

It’s really sweet that you were able to get Mr. Parfait something that he loves so much! And that laptop looks so neat!

His engagement item was an engagement bicycle! A Trek Madone 2010. I too felt like he should get to join in the engagement fun.

I think my guy will probably get an “engagement tv” haha. He has a big flat screen tv but he wants a better/newer/bigger one. We have already discussed getting one when we move, but I know he’ll be nervous about spending the $$. I might just go get it and wrap it up and make it an engagement tv. heh.

Haha, I love that laptop it’s the one that I own but when you said it was pretty hot all I could think was “yes…it does get very hot”.

I plan on doing something similar once I get engaged. It’s not fair for only the girl to get something nifty.

My guy wants a *ring* when we get engaged! I was explaining to him how many rings are involved in the whole thing, which hand/finger each goes on, etc. He had no idea the woman gets 2 and the guy only gets a wedding band… he said he wanted an engagement ring too! (With “man bling”!) Hilarious.

That’s awesome! I told FI that when he proposed he could just propose with a laptop and I’d be okay with that … and he even went as far as to say “but it has to be a mac … or I bet I’ll get a “no.” Haha.
But anyway, great idea! I like the idea of getting an engagement present for the guy!

I love reading about everyone else’s creative engagement gifts!

@HeidiInWonderland: Haha, that is too cute! I wonder what he would’ve done with both rings–worn them stacked? :)

@sstar: We’re gift twins! It’s like the perfect gift for a man, I tell ya.

I am still on the hunt for an engagement gift for Mister. Not sure when to give him this gift. Should it be right away or can it wait for the engagement party?

My husband got an engagement guitar… he’d been wanting one for a while so we went to look and I bought him the one he wanted… I thought it was only fair since I had this fabulous bling! :-) He later got a man-gagement ring before he left on deployment to Iraq…

That laptop looks fabulous. I’m sure he was thrilled to get it!

I, on the other hand, recently starting making payments on my engagement gift for the bf. I plan to have it paid off by Christmas…and hopefully the proposal will happen by then! I dont know how long I will be able to hang on to it once I have it in my possession!!

I got him an engagement pocketwatch.. I meant to have it waiting around for when the ring finally made its appearance so I could surprise him with it, but I spilled the beans accidentally and he didn’t get it until a couple months later. I wanted to engrave it with “Yes!” but it was not engraveable despite the website’s promises otherwise.

@llc2011: Haha, I love that idea! Perhaps for Mr. P’s wedding present!

@11.11.11Bride: Our “engagement party” was the same night as the proposal, so he didn’t get the laptop until a few weeks later. :)

@sashax415: Omgosh, how funny!
