Miss Frozen Yogurt's Picture
Miss Frozen Yogurt, Dallas Age and Occupation: 28, Special Projects Coordinator Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Equity Trader Engagement Date: March 19, 2009 Wedding Date: April 2010 Venue: Marie Gabrielle, Dallas About Me: I was born and raised in Texas, and have lived in several of the cities across the state, but I currently reside in Austin. I went to college in Boston and have a special place in my heart for the Northeast. I love reading, shopping, wine, reuniting with college friends that are scattered across the country, reality TV, trying out new recipes, and attempting all the DIY projects that come along with wedding planning. I'm a "bleeding heart, save the world type" and thankfully my job allows me to work on legislation and policy to help out those in need. I met Mr. Frozen Yogurt in a bar, though he doesn't even drink! And now we are planning a modern yet vintage wedding in Dallas while dealing with the trials and tribulations of first time homeownership.
About Miss Frozen Yogurt

I Think I Broke My Finger

September 29th, 2009 @ 10:32 am by Miss Frozen Yogurt

Oh no!! Today we were taking doggie Fro Yo and a doggie friend for a walk. Unfortunately, the doggie friend got excited and wanted to run after a small animal, thus yanking me and my finger forward.

The culprits:

mandk

(doggie friend on left, doggie fro yo on right)

Now, I wouldn’t be blogging about this (P.S. I’m blogging like I don’t know how to type, one finger at a time when using my left hand) if it wasn’t wedding related. It’s on my left hand, and it’s my ring finger. NOOO. Well, now I can’t get my ring on my finger.

I hope the swelling goes down soon! I feel totally naked without my ring! Did any of you face injuries, or other obstacles that prevented you from wearing a typical wedding-related item?

Ouch! I’m going to be honest, I’m glad you can’t get your ring on, rather than can’t get it off! I have a friend at work that injured that finger and they said “we either have to cut off the ring, or the finger”.

@Brianalaura: I took my ring off right after it happened because I was afraid of that!

Ohhh no! Feel better soon! I’ve broken my finger once when I was 13 and it was not fun. It still didn’t heal correctly. Make sure to leave the splint on as long as you can, b/c even if it feels okay to take out, you can still re-injure yourself :(

You’ll be wearing that beautiful ring in no time!!

Well, it wasn’t a situation where I couldn’t get my ring on - but I was out running and tripped on a piece of sidewalk that was broken and raised up (darn you, City of Chicago). Flew forward and hit my knee, causing a MASSIVE, ugly, raised up bruise on my knee. Unfortunately I caught myself on my hands and scraped up the bottom of my platinum e-ring. :( I got it buffed out just fine but wasn’t able to show it off for the first time to all my aunts and my grandma that weekend! It sucked. I hope your finger feels better soon!

Every time I do something clumsy or get sick (like when I had the shingles or when I slipped in the shower and scraped myself on the shampoo bottle - yes, both scarred) someone says…”Well, at least it didn’t happen the week of the wedding.”

Hope your finger is ring-wearing shape soon (and I pray the pain is not as bad as it looks).

Well darn those cute doggies! I hope the swelling goes down quickly! Remember to ice it. I know it feels silly to ice your finger, but it helps!

Ouch! I was preparing dinner one night and while dicing some veggies chopped off a chunk of the tip of my left ring finger. FI was at work and when he came home we joked that we’d have to ask our photographer to photoshop the tip of my finger into our pics! Thankfully, it’s healed and I’ll have a full finger for next year :)

Hope it gets better quickly. You can always wear your e-ring on a chain as a necklace ala Carrie in SATC until it heals!

From a med student - that definitely looks broken. You probably want a doc to look at it, to make sure everything’s aligned properly before it heals that way!
If it makes you feel better, Germans wear their wedding rings on their right ring finger. Just channel your inner Frau Yogurt!!

It looks like a really bad sprain…this happened to me a little over a year ago…mine looked to be much more severe though I had swelling/bruising that went all the way through to my palm. My finger swelled up so much that I too couldn’t get a ring on that I used to wear on the finger (this was pre-engagement) I don’t mean to scare you, but though the swelling and pain eventually went down (it took forever!!) my left ring finger is still slightly bigger then it used to be (probably from scar tissue) and it still does bother me from time to time. On the bright side yours doesn’t look to be as bad so perhaps you will have a much better recovery!! Good luck!

ps..I did go to the hospital to check it out because it was pretty ugly to look at…the doctor was surprised by the x-ray results to find that it wasn’t in fact broken. I would make sure to get it checked out before assuming it was just a sprain…..on the bright side if it is broken the Dr. told me I would have been better off since sprains take a lot longer than breaks to heal.

Thanks you guys! I’ve broken 2 fingers previously and didn’t let them heal properly and now I have 2 crooked fingers. I’m trying avoid that with the ring finger!!
@jhguba: I love that!! I’m actually of German heritage, so it’s even better!!

Oh my what are the chances? I hope it heals swiftly so you can get that beautiful ring back where it belongs. As I mentioned in my post my ear was severely burnt by a curling iron but thank goodness I could cover it with my long hair!

Oh my! If it makes you feel better, a good friend of mine tripped and fell the night before her wedding, banging up her face pretty good and leaving her with a loose tooth. OUCH! I hope you get well soon!
