Vintage Rehearsal Dinner Outfit

September 29th, 2009 @ 5:30 pm by Mrs. Lamb

I have about 20 pages of “favorited” items in my Etsy account. As I was browsing through them (I do daily to purge those items that have been sold or expired), I pieced together a wonderfully vintage outfit.

I liked it so much, and it seemed so wedding-y, that I thought it would work beautifully for a casual or courthouse wedding. Then I thought, “Why couldn’t it work for a rehearsal dinner?” Since our wedding is in the winter, the sleeves would be appropriate and I think it’s just so classy! Without further ado, here is my vintage outfit find:

Vintage Rehearsal Dinner Outfit : wedding dress jewelry shoes Rehearsal Dinner Outfit Rehearsal-Dinner-Outfit

The gorgeous vintage dress is from Glory by Jeannie Lee. It’s a ’60s mini and just about my measurements.

The chic shoes are flats from Moonula. They’re my size!

The glamorous earrings are from Stacy’s Designs 88. They’re made from vintage chandelier crystals and I think would be the finishing touch!

Budget Breakdown:

Dress: 75 + 10 S&H = 85
Shoes: 25 + 6 S&H = 31
Earrings: 75 + 4 S&H = 79
Grand total: $195

I’m not sure if I want to spend any money on the rehearsal dinner outfit, but I bet I could wear this same outfit to holiday parties this winter as well. I have a few hesitations, though.

  1. The dress won’t fit and I’ll have to try to resell it, which is always more hassle.
  2. The dress will almost fit, but cost some more to tailor.
  3. If I buy the dress first to see how it fits, the other pieces may be bought up.
  4. If I wait even one minute more, one of the pieces may be bought up.

I think I’m going to sleep on it. I’d hate to pass up such lovely vintage pieces all for the sake of being an online shopping wuss.

Did you ever pass up a buy to only wish you had gone with your initial gut feeling? Where did you find your rehearsal dinner outfit?

Just do it! $200 isn’t that much to risk, and you can always resell the pieces if it doesn’t work out!

I love the vintage dress. Given I’m having a very intimate wedding and reception, this may be an idea for my reception attire. I love all things vintage and this dress is amazing! Thanks for sharing.

I love the dress and I think you should get it. I’m not sure about the earrings. They are super cute, but seem really pricey for what they are, and you’d save almost half your budget if you wore something you already had (or could borrow). But that is just me. :)

I really think you should get it! The whole look is GREAT and so unique! Get it!! It’s not very much. But I agree the earrings are a bit on the high side. You can find similar ones for much cheaper or have a girlfriend of yours who make earrings make them for you. I actually have a gf who can do it for you and I’m sure she’d charge you much less. So without the earrings it’s actually only $125!

I agree with CorgiTales…the earrings seem pretty pricey! Definitly get the dress, though! The money you save if you didn’t get the earrings could go to alterations if needed!

I would skip the earrings and maybe go for some smallish purple ones and a purple clutch. I have no idea why purple is jumping out at me with this outfit-but it is.

My fiance got my my rehearsal dress. It’s a 7-in-1 dress, purchased from Victoria Secret, but you can find them elsewhere too. I’ve already worn it once, but I’ll wear it differently for the rehearsal. And since it’s changeable and doesn’t need to be ironed, it’s going on our cruise honeymoon too!

Yeah, I could make the earrings myself, but that involves finding the chandelier crystals, ordering them, finding all my jewelry making stuff in the boxes that were just moved out of state, etc. Since I make jewelry too, I totally think her idea and the time she spent executing the earrings are worth it to me.

I agree with everyone else, I would definitely pass on the earrings, but the dress is gorgeous and so are the shoes!! Will the seller let you return it if it doesn’t fit??

i like the dress. how close are the measurements to yours? if it’s pretty negliable then it shouldn’t be too much to alter if need be.

Go for that dress. It’s fabulus and if you don’t you’ll regret it. The price is right for it. The shoes are nice & you might want to consider. I really like the earrings but yes, you can make them yourself for a fraction of the cost. Go for the dress.

@rzblna: Yep, I wrote this post a while back and the dress did sell. I didn’t even have time to sleep on it! That’s the way the cookie crumbles though. The dress was absolutely what made the outfit and it just wasn’t meant to be for me!

I do have a great outfit though, which I’ll unveil soon! :)
