Sparkling in the Spotlight

September 30th, 2009 @ 6:08 pm by Mrs. Star

Like many other brides before me, I just love the look of a sparkler send-off. I love the drama (of course!), and it makes for such a perfect end to a classy, city light-filled wedding.

So I bought some sparklers off of eBay. But they looked pretty drab, in all their gray loveliness, so I made cutesy little tags to accompany them:

And then I tied the darling little tags on with purple ribbon left over from another project:

And took a yellow metal bin that I had been storing toys for my sisters in, threw the toys in a drawer, and painted it black.

The end result was this:

This is just another quick DIY project that I’ve been busy whipping up in the final days before our wedding! Don’t worry, there are plenty of lighters tucked in the back of the bin. ;)

What are your send-off plans?

Fun! Looks like a pretty simple DIY — and I’m sure it’ll make for a memorable sendoff!

Awesome DIY…and it seems so doable!

I LOVE the sparkler send off idea…sadly, with our daytime wedding, sparklers just won’t have the same impact. We’re thinking maybe ribbon wands…in our colors of orange & green. Hopefully that will stand out against a (God willing) clear blue sky.

we did sparklers - the LONG ones … but the photographer really did a bad job taking the pictures :(

So cute!! I wish we could do sparklers, but my parents are convinced that everyone will set themselves on fire in a drunken haze. Oh ye of little faith.

Make sure the people stand far enough apart! My guests didn’t exactly get the memo that it wasn’t supposed to be in the outdoor hallway, and the pictures look like everything is on fire! People got burnt… oops.

I love your little tags!! We’re having a daytime wedding, so this wouldn’t be as successful- but I’d love to do this! :)

I love this idea, but I can’t help but wonder if sparklers don’t come with tags of any kind as a fire prevention… I’d be a little nervous about a spark cathing the tags! Sorry!

@CEO528: I’m hoping our guests know to take the tags off before they light the sparklers — especially since the ribbon is holding two sparklers together!

Love this great little DIY project. I’m trying to see if we can do sparklers but my guess is not at our venue and I doubt they would want it outdoors as well. they do look so darn pretty.
