Mrs. Mary Jane, Grand Forks, NDAge and Occupation: 26, Instructional DesignerFiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Lead ProgrammerEngagement Date: February 28, 2009Wedding Date: September 2009Venue: City HallAbout Me: I'm a career woman on the surface and a homemaker at heart. I love fast cars and high heels, and my favorite food is cake. Mr. Mary Jane and I are both full-time employees and students, and we just bought our first house. We love to curl up on the couch with buttery popcorn, Sour Patch Kids, and the latest Netflix arrival -- whenever we can get a break from everyday life.
I am still amazed by that, considering how many variables I’d only “loosely” tied down. Heading in to the week of the wedding, I didn’t have a photography contract, a venue contract, a restaurant reservation, an idea of what the cake would look like, a source for flowers, or even a guarantee (aside from a verbal “OK”) that the JP in Hillsboro would definitely be available on our day.
But everything came together, happened so flawlessly, and was over in the blink of an eye. I don’t even know if it’s hit me yet that I’m married! Our picnic was Saturday and it was, in a word: awesome. So many people came out to wish us well, see each other and enjoy some delicious ribs and chicken. The food was amazing, the cake was beautiful, and the company was grand. MIL and FIL really went over the top!
Our pro pics are a few weeks out still, so I’m going to push off the recaps until then. And until that time comes, I leave you with a sneak-preview of the happy couple (us!):
Mrs. Labrador Retriever, Athens/SavannahAge and Occupation: 24, Student/Sports ReporterFiance's Age and Occupation: 29, Physical Therapy Assistant Student/Future Dr. of PT
Engagement Date: December 31, 2008Wedding Date: November 2009Venue: Whitfield Square/Savannah StationAbout Me: I'm working on my second degree from UGA (Go Dawgs!). I'm a self-proclaimed attention-w****. If it involves a camera, I'm in front of it! You'll never meet a girlier tomboy than me. I can go toe to toe with any guy on the subject of college football, and lift more than any girl in my gym, all without chipping a nail. I hope to someday be the only person you want delivering your sports news. My FI and I are the loving parents of three Labrador Retrievers (one of each color) and are planning a "Southern Romantic Charm" wedding in the beautiful, historic city of Savannah. I'm not extreme in anything except moderation... and wedding planning.
We met with our officiant, aka my hometown pastor, over Labor Day weekend. It was our second and final meeting with him before our big day.
During our meeting, we went over our “marriage inventory”. Read more…
Mrs. Poodle, Santiago, Chile/San Bernardino, CAAge and Occupation: 27, Industrial & Web DesignerFiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Firefighter & Mountain PatrolEngagement Date: February 25, 2009Wedding Date: January 2010Venue: Mr. P's Grandparents’ RanchAbout Me: I’m a Chilean girl who's crazy about nature and swimming. I enjoy carving, drawing, reading and sewing; I drool over computers, fabric, pretty paper, purple and patterns. To me, chocolate should be one of the seven wonders, right next to lemon pie. I never thought an exchange work experience program was going to change my life forever, but while working in California, I met Mr. Poodle, and ever since my days are better and brighter. We are two goofy souls that, after finding each other, couldn’t help but want to be together forever. It has being a long and sometimes hard road, since we have to deal with such a long distance between us, but we are now facing the last stage of our Fiancé Visa, and soon we will be together. You know the best part? We will be married! So I’ll be blogging from Chile until just a few months before our “green and purple” wedding.
… Because you think you know, but you have no idea…
I’ve always wanted to write that, and here is a post that it finally works for. No, I don’t think I’m an MTV superstar, but this series is kind of like MTV’s“Diary”, but the Weddingbee version!
So now, mi historia…
A little background:
I was not one of those girls that dreamed about weddings, but there was one thing that caught my attention early on in my life: Barbie dolls’ clothes. I couldn’t have cared less about the dolls, but I was interested in the clothes. I made my first Barbie wedding dress out of toilet paper when I was 7 years old.
Dresses were the only thing I knew about weddings when Mr. Poodle and I started to talk about wedding planning. Feeling extremely overwhelmed, (I was so clueless about the whole wedding world) I started Googling every single wedding term (in Spanish). The week after Mr. Poodle told his parents about our engagement, I got a package from my FMIL with a big fat wedding planning book and a few bridal magazines! It was exactly what I needed (Thank you again, B!). I read everything she sent me. One of my magazines had an article about the best online wedding planing resources.
Finding Weddingbee:
That magazine lead me to The Knot. And like many of you, I was overwhelmed by all the information. But most of all, I was overwhelmed by all the tiny little details that had not-so-tiny prices.
In one of the magazines, I ran into a weird acronym. Read more…

Then I followed my beau out here to LA and we're getting settled in. I've been making things since I can remember. I was raised by crafters. I love to sew, draw, paint, build, cook, bake (anything with a tangible end result is fair game). In that same spirit, I've been hosting since I was old enough to cook and set a fancy table. I kind of take after my grandmother, who believes that your morning OJ always tastes better out of the good crystal.
Mrs. Star, New York CityAge and Occupation: 22, ActressFiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Casting AssistantWedding Date: October 2009Venue: Ceremony: The Kraine Theatre, Reception: Midtown Loft & TerraceAbout Me: I’m a professional actress who’s always had New York City in her blood and I'm finally getting the chance to make a home in Manhattan with my fiancé, my dog, and my big dreams! I love polka dots, craft projects, Dunkin’ Donuts’ iced coffee, and anything sparkly. I’m having a blast planning our elegant/dramatic/New York City/acting-themed/largely-DIY wedding and am thrilled to be the youngest current Miss Blogger!
Alright, I admit it. I have NO IDEA how they did it in the old days.
Wedding planning, that is.
Maybe it’s just because I’m young enough to only barely remember the days when I was forced to look things up in the phone book and the encyclopedia, but I cannot imagine how much harder it must have been to plan a wedding before there was the internet.
Because of our move, I have been internet-less for precisely 11 days and it has been k-i-l-l-i-n-g me.
Mrs. Ramen, PhoenixAge and Occupation: 26, Optometry StudentFiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Industrial DesignerEngagement Date: January 3, 2009Wedding Date: December 19, 2009Venue: Phoenix Art MuseumAbout Me: I'm an SF-born, Seattle-raised girl, transplanted to Phoenix where I'll be getting married, and planning all the way from Orange County where I go to school (yes, it feels as crazy as it sounds). I loooooove Yogurtland, am slightly very obsessed with all things paper, am heavily addicted to wedding blogs, deeply desire a puppy, thoroughly enjoy cooking, cry when I watch (almost all) movies, thrive on solo car-karaoke, can't stop being sarcastic, am neurotic about taking pictures of almost everything I eat before I eat it, and aspire to travel the world. My super-talented fiance and I are attempting to DIY a majority of our massive (~350 guests) "clean & modern, yet romantic, but completely unexpected, with a teeny dash of vintage" wedding, stay within our not-so-massive budget, and somehow get a really luxe (but still fun!) look/feel at the same time. In music terms (since we're both really into music) think Coldplay meets Motown meets Kanye meets Sinatra.
We were leaning towards the Bentley Projects, but there was the issue with parking, possibly having to split our guests between two rooms, the issue of some unruly children that might be in attendance (Bentley Projects has a strict policy that kids have to be suuuuper well behaved and essentially micromanaged the entire time they are there - or they will be kicked out!), and the length of the rental (only for 4 hours). So we figured it MIGHT be a good idea to look into other options.
Mrs. Bunny, ColumbusAge and Occupation: 24, Associate Editor/ReporterFiance's Age and Occupation: 27, ReporterEngagement Date: September 23, 2008Wedding Date: July 2009Venue: Everal Barn, WestervilleAbout Me: Organized, but messy. I love art (all kinds). I don't have any secrets. I talk a lot and listen even more. I show love by baking. I'm timid by nature, but brave when it counts.
Mr. Bunny and I work at competing weekly newspapers, which makes it a little interesting trying to describe our work joys and frustrations without giving away too much before the paper comes out. In spite of that little hurdle, we've managed to build a pretty solid relationship in the short one-and-a-half years we will have been together when we tie the knot. I can't wait!
This post has been a loooong time coming. I had a lot of… concerns about writing about this issue, but I really think I need to share my experience, so here it goes!
With 21 days left until our wedding, Mr. Bunny and his “buddies”, as he likes to call them, took off for his bachelor party. They spent Friday night at a campground in southern Ohio and then moseyed on down to Athens to spend the day in his old college town. From what I heard, it was a rollicking good time!
While Mr. Bunny was away, I took advantage of my privacy to work on his wedding gift.
Mrs. Sprinkle, Los AngelesAge and Occupation: 26, Preschool Teacher
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 30, Television Production/WriterEngagement Date: December 24, 2008Wedding Date: September 2009Venue: The Marvimon HouseAbout Me: I'm a Bay Area native trying to create a life for myself (and my fiance, and our three cats!) in the vast city of Los Angeles. I love vegan red velvet cupcakes, pilates ,and mid-century furniture. Mr. Sprinkle and I met when my band toured through his city (we bonded over cake and a mutual love of Morrissey) and we are getting married on the four year anniversary of our first date. When I am not teaching preschool (or blogging!) you can find me perfecting recipes, petting kittens, hiking in Griffith Park, and overusing exclamation points. We are planning a vegan, green-as-possible, DIY wedding, and I couldn't be more excited to share all of the details!
The past nine months have flown by faster than I ever thought possible. The last week has seemed like mere minutes. It’s currently 11 o’ clock on the eve of our wedding day, and I am blogging while eating my first proper meal all week (vegan flatbread and fries, courtesy of room service). It’s true what people tell you: no matter how early you plan, no matter how much you do, there will be 849034830 tasks that need to be completed in the days before (especially if you are baking your own cupcakes and hosting a dinner in your backyard!) and you won’t remember to eat.
It still doesn’t feel real. Even though we rehearsed, it doesn’t seem real. The only thing that is real in my head is that I am about to be married to my BFF and that is what really matters. Not missing caterers, or burnt cupcakes, or family drama, or misprinted programs or half finished favors (yes, this all happened to me!)
The kittens are boarded, our bags are packed (haha just joking, we didn’t have time to pack for the honeymoon yet!) and I’m pretty sure I remembered the marriage license. As long as we say “I do,” eat some cupcakes, and get on that plane to our mystery destination, I will feel like it has been a successful event! Read more…
Mrs. Cowboy Boot, Santa FeAge and Occupation: 25, Magazine EditorFiance's Age and Occupation: 29, Artist and Whitewater Rafting GuideEngagement Date: April 28th, 2008Wedding Date: October 2009Venue: Devil's Thumb Ranch, ColoradoAbout Me: I grew up in Los Angeles and have since lived in San Diego, Boston, Italy, Hawaii, New York City, and Santa Fe. I speak Italian and love pasta. My real passion is the outdoors, though. When I'm not at work, I'm snowboarding, hiking with my two dogs, mountain biking, surfing, cross-country-skiing, or boating New Mexico's rivers. Despite my boyish love for adventure, I'm a girly-girl at heart and am overly-excited to pull off the romantic, vintage-inspired, country wedding of my dreams.
At first, I was wary. Was I really going to order a ring from iweddingband.com? The name itself made the website sound cheesy. But after searching around online for better prices, I never found them. I also scoured the internet for reviews of the site, and all were glowing. So, I bit the bullet.
Enter: Mr. Cowboy Boot’s 18k yellow gold, 5 mm, half-round wedding band. It arrived in the mail a few days ago (about a week after ordering it) and it’s lovely. The best part? It was $254, and Mr. CB loves it.
LilMisPriss shows off her bling and his carbonfiber. Their “perfect match.”

Mrs. Frozen Yogurt, DallasAge and Occupation: 28, Special Projects CoordinatorFiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Equity TraderEngagement Date: March 19, 2009Wedding Date: April 2010Venue: Marie Gabrielle, DallasAbout Me: I was born and raised in Texas, and have lived in several of the cities across the state, but I currently reside in Austin. I went to college in Boston and have a special place in my heart for the Northeast. I love reading, shopping, wine, reuniting with college friends that are scattered across the country, reality TV, trying out new recipes, and attempting all the DIY projects that come along with wedding planning. I'm a "bleeding heart, save the world type" and thankfully my job allows me to work on legislation and policy to help out those in need. I met Mr. Frozen Yogurt in a bar, though he doesn't even drink! And now we are planning a modern yet vintage wedding in Dallas while dealing with the trials and tribulations of first time homeownership.
I didn’t think I wanted a monogram for our wedding at all. It wasn’t really something that I thought about and said “no” to, it was just that I didn’t really think about it all. That is, until now.
Mrs. Mouse, AustinAge and Occupation: 25, Weddingbee Editor/AttorneyFiance's Age and Occupation: 31, Civil EngineerEngagement Date: December 19, 2007Wedding Date: September 2009Venue: Barr MansionAbout Me: I just graduated from law school and will be taking the bar, getting married, going on a honeymoon with my guy, and then trying to figure out what I'm going to do with the rest of my life. I was born and raised in a small East Texas town, but I'm no country girl! I'm obsessed with British accents, fantasy (including Harry Potter, of course), and classic rock. My fiance and I consider ourselves both music and beer snobs--but every once in awhile we love to hear a crappy band and drink a cheap brew or two. We're planning an eco-friendly, casual, English garden affair for the end of summer, and we can't wait for it to get here!
I don’t do well with expressing sentimental ideas. Nothing I type seems adequate to describe how happy I am that our wedding day is finally here. So I’ll start with this: Today I’m marrying my favorite person in the world, and I feel so lucky.
In the past week, everything that could have gone wrong has. I found out at the last minute that the bust was way too big on my dress. The cookies I tried to bake turned out awful. There was a 70% chance of rain on the day of our backyard barbecue rehearsal dinner. The day before the rehearsal dinner, we couldn’t get in contact with the RD caterers. In the end, my dress fits, we ordered some cookies from a bakery, and we got a giant tent for the RD and enough BBQ to feed an army. It seemed as though there wasn’t a problem that we couldn’t solve.
I know today won’t be perfect. I also know it won’t be the “best day of my life”. Read more…

We both come from a small town in PA but are growing to love the California lifestyle. He loves wine and I love cheese... the perfect combination! When I'm not drooling over wedding blogs, I'm attending grad school, out being a foodie, or attempting to "walk" our cat at the park. Two things guaranteed to excite me are wedding cakes and breaking out my suitcase to travel. Mr. Sunbeam and I are personalizing our hometown wedding to celebrate our high school sweetheart status and PA roots with a few CA touches. After ten years of dating we couldn't be more excited to call each other husband and wife!
Yesterday things fell in to place, and I am feeling as sunny as ever! One glorious event (of many) happened yesterday. We decided on our Wendy Kromer cake design! I’m not sure if I’m not getting enough sleep or if I am really that crazy over wedding cake, but I might have got a little teary-eyed when she sent over these beautiful sketches that reflect the lace patterns on my dress. I loved all four of them, and choosing one or a combination of them all was an incredible task!
With Wendy’s permission, I’m sharing our sketches and would love to take a vote on your favorite! The cake will be cream overall, with white piped details. Here are the beauties:
