It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a 20-something woman in possession of a good fiancé, must be in want of a wedding website that will tell her what the heck she is supposed to do next. So began my grand romance with Weddingbee, which I stumbled upon shortly after our engagement and quickly determined was the least scary of wedding websites. And wow, hi—here I am! I am still in a state of shocked joy, and I am so very honored to be blogging with you all!
When I first began wedding planning I was clueless and overwhelmed. Now, nine months later, I am… still clueless and overwhelmed. But also excited, and ready, and thrilled to be doing this with the best partner in the world.
About us: Mr. Potato Chips (who hereafter will be referenced to as Mr. Potato Head) and I have been together for almost seven years, for most of our twenties, in fact! Now seems to be the perfect time to make it official, while we’re at that age between beer pong and Pottery Barn (does Pottery Barn make beer pong tables??). Embarrassingly bad at DIY, we’re pretty darn good at laughing at ourselves, a trait that may come in handy when trying to plan an event for 130 of our friends and family.
Mr. Potato Head works several jobs, runs a business, and goes to school, and I keep my nose buried in a book while I teach and work on my Ph.D. Living together is sometimes like being in our own private fraternity; we call it “I Atta Pi” and we regularly do just that—eat pies of the pizza variety and fall asleep to Cosby Show reruns, because we are 29/30 and too tired to do anything else!

We live north of Boston but Mr. PH is from Rhode Island, and that’s where our wedding will be. With the church and reception venue close to two hours away, it’s turned into a quasi-destination wedding in the seaside town of Narragansett.
We’re planning what we hope will be the partiest of all parties with a focus on food, friends, and family! Elements we’re hoping to incorporate: pizza, gelato, transportation via scooter (I hope!), karaoke, home brewed beer, photobooth with funny props…
It’s shaping up to be a quaint-New-England-ceremony-turned-kickass-seaside-soiree. Is that a theme? Do I sound like I know what I’m talking about??
Despite being a lentil-eating, Swiss-chard-noshin’ vegetarian (with a fiance in the health industry), Potato Chips was a natural fit as a moniker: they are my ultimate comfort food and very favorite treat (favorite flavor: salt and vinegar, no doubt). Plus, I figured… they’re a little bit salty… I’m a little bit salty… and I could draw some comparisons between salty potato chips and salty sea air, but you get it.
Thanks for having me, hive! I’m so excited and humbled to be here!
