Well, I threw my first bridal shower and lived to tell the tale. Special thanks to my co-host/slave Emily, who once again suffered through a Japanese food dinner (the bride and I are obsessed with Japanese food, Emily is not), and hamburger grease stains to make the shower happen!

When the first guests showed up (on time), I was still in my pajamas. Oops. This particular circle of friends I run in is notorious for being late to EVERYTHING, so having her coworkers show up on time was a bit shocking to us. Bad hostess.

Anyhoo, I took some great advice from reader cbgg who suggested we turn regular bowls over and place our platters on top to create a little height and free up more room on the food table. Genius! That’s exactly what we did (and I would have never thought of it!). Lien at the Crazy Cake Company also suggested using regular household items, like large coffee cans or storage tins, wrapping them in paper, and doing the same. Geniuses. All of you.

I added little white flowers to the decorative (cereal) bowls of citrus.

The hot dogs were friggin’ delicious. To make these by hand, simply wrap cocktail wieners in small triangles of puff pastry. Yum! (We just bought pre-made wrapped wieners.)

The heart shaped brownies were a hit!

No one went thirsty…

It was a lingerie shower, and little did I know we’d be playing “Guess who gave you this lingerie”. Unfortunately, it was obvious which was my gift, since my cheap ass just wrapped her gift in the coordinating paper from the shower.

Too cheap to even buy you ribbon and a bow. That’s right. Lovvveee youuuu.

We all ate. A LOT.

I’m glad that I only ended up with 3 new pieces of glassware (the bubbly bar pitchers). All in all, a successful day!
