The Final Dress Fitting

October 2nd, 2009 @ 3:05 pm by Mrs. Cowboy Boot

Today could not have gone better. In Denver, pre-wedding, I made it to Saks Fifth Avenue with all of my bridesmaids in tow to pick up my gown. Yeah, three days out. I was nervous for all sorts of reasons—it had been four months since I’d tried the dress on, I hadn’t seen it with its final alterations, and there was a lot of pressure with my girls there to make sure it looked perfect!

Here are the results:

(MR. CB, THAT’S YOUR CUE!)

SDC1018

The bridesmaids brought champagne!

SDC1017

Now, I have a decision or two to make. The Chloe & Max earrings didn’t end up working out, nor did the Roberta Chiarella ones. They were both a little too blingy.

1) Do I go with the J. Crew belt and pearl studs? See below.

SDC1021

SDC1019

Or, 2) No J.Crew belt with long, pearl earrings?

SDC1020

I’m kind of loving the J Crew belt with the studs and hair flowers, but I’m not sure if it will be too busy with a bouquet. The color from the belt is really warm and beautiful, though.

Which is your favorite?

Love the belt and I like the dangly earrings if you’re not wearing a necklace.

Belt and long pearl earrings! Definitely belt if only one.

I voted for the belt because it felt like it went with the vibe of your wedding more, but either option would look gorgeous!! How exciting!!!!

The belt jazzes up your already jazzy dress! I vote, belt and studs!

I would do dangly earrings, no belt for the ceremony. Then add the belt for the reception (keeping the dangly earrings). Your dress is so simple and elegant, it can carry both together.

I prefer the pearls without the belt, it looks more classic.

Love the belt, but I agree with you it will be too much going on with your bouquet etc. Your dress is beautiful, the draping etc. I wouldn’t distract from it with the belt. An idea is maybe you can add the belt for the reception of some pics…But I love the dress alone.

You look stunning, Miss CB! I love the belt, but I love the dress on its own, too… I’m torn!

Regardless of what you choose, your dress will look beautiful!

i like the look of the belt, but if you think it may look too busy paired with your bouquet, why don’t just use the belt for the reception, and no belt for the ceremony? either way, you’ll look gorgeous!

I agree with Clover: I would do dangly earrings, no belt for the ceremony. Then add the belt for the reception (keeping the dangly earrings). Regardless you are going to look stunning!

I really like the belt and don’t think it looks like too much! The rest of your dress is really simple so it works.

I voted for no belt. I think the dress is beautiful as-is and the fabric around the waist looks kinda like a belt anyway. The bouquet will be perfect against the “no belt” area! Does that make sense? LOL

I would say no belt for ceremony, then add it in for the reception since you won’t be holding your flowers anymore :)
And go with the dangly ones ;)

It looks great, i ended up voting “belt” but either way will look gorge. Sorry if I missed the blog-entry where you mentioned what shoes you’ll be wearing on wedding day - but did you consider wearing Cowboy Boots?! Just came from a wedding in Nashville and the bride slipped in to cowboy boots for the reception….cutest thing ever.
Best Wishes! It’s been fun reading your wedding updates!!

i am pretty plain with accessories, but you could totally do the pearl earrings with the belt! I love the belt though if you are only picking one!

i love the look without the belt there is just so much detail with the dress itself and i think the flower on the belt makes you look lopsided is the best way to put it. because of the flower on the side a persons eyes are drawn right away to their, when really people’s eyes should be getting drawn to your face.

you look stunning either way!

I love the dress! The belt is nice, but a little trendy? I think it’s one of those things that’ll look dated in pictures after a couple years.

IDEA!!
What if you wear the long dangly earrings for the ceremony - then once you ditch your bouquet and put it at your head table - put on the belt!?!?
That way, you get the best of both worlds. That belt is gorgeous - and you don’t want it to go to waste.

Oh my goodness. I’m in love with both looks. I voted for studs and belt, because the belt is so sweet and romantic with those flowers in your hair and will also tie in your bridesmaids’ looks.

belt, Belt, BELT! I love how romantic you look with it. As simple & beautiful as your wedding is, I think it won’t clash or distract from bouquet…in fact I think it would compliment beautifully. But no matter which way you go, you’ll look radiant.

I really like the belt but it does add a casual feel. It would depend on the style or look of wedding your going for or the way you want your pictured to reflect. If youw ant classic and timeless, don’t use the belt.

The belt is very pretty, but I think it distracts from the gorgeous visual lines of the fabric on the front of the dress. Plus, if you’re wearing a flower in your hair, and carrying a bouquet, you’re probably right about it becoming rather busy.

I voted no belt, because even as cute as it is, there’s just something that absolutely beautiful and elegant about the simple look. I’d favor the dramatic jewelry over the belt.

you’re gorgeous. there’s something very elegant abt the pearl studs. if you want something more obvious, long pearls + belt is fine too.
i like that you’re NOT going with a necklace. the sweetheart neckline turned out FAB!

GORGEOUS, you are!

If you think it’ll look busy with your first option and your bouquet… why not put on the J. Crew belt during the reception since you won’t be holding your bouquet then?

The dress is perfect on it’s own. I say NO BELT! I love both pairs of earrings though. I would probably give the second pair the edge, just since you aren’t wearing any other jewelry.

Beautiful! I love it strapless. I have the Maribel, which is essentially the dotted and strapless version of your original. I like it best without the belt.

definitely the belt

you said “I’m kind of loving the J Crew belt with the studs and hair flowers, but I’m not sure if it will be too busy with a bouquet. The color from the belt is really warm and beautiful, though.”

You’ll only be carrying a bouquet for 30 minutes.

I absolutely love your dress and thinks it looks best without the belt so you can really appreciate the style around the waist. i agree that the hair flower, belt and bouquet will be rather busy. However, I don’t hate the belt and think Mrs. Gloss pointed out you could wear it when you don’t have your other flowers, for the reception.
