About Mrs. Parfait

Un Jour Peu Conventionnel

October 2nd, 2009 @ 11:00 am by Mrs. Parfait

I have one more wishful wedding indulgence that cannot/will not/could not possibly take place in real life. Since we’re all dreamers here, I’ll express it anyway!

I would love to have one of our wedding-related celebrations at Laduree, a cake and pastry shop specializing in French goodies. I’ve fallen for their perfectly-organized store interiors, cute window displays, fancy packaging, and unique sweets. So what’s holding me back from booking my ladies-only festivities there? The location.

In beautiful script, the boxes proclaim their home base: Paris, France. Le sigh! I can’t wait to go to France someday. Usually when I say this aloud, I receive a terribly cynical response from someone who’s been there or someone who knows someone who’s been there. Despite the dream-dashing comments, I still would love to go! And I still know that I will love it there. Laduree has opened more locations in Europe and Asia, but I’m looking forward to visiting the Paris bakery one day. Since a Laduree wedding cake is out of the question, maybe we could save up for one of these babies for our tenth (fifth? first?) anniversary!

Mmmmmm… it doesn’t even have to be delicious when it’s this pretty. ;) I would like to thank Mrs. Bell Pepper, Mrs. Perfume, Mrs. Lightning, Mrs. Tulip, and Weddingbee Pro Nancy for featuring Laduree in your posts! I loved reading about how the pastry shop inspired other brides-to-be.

If you could have an all-girls, wedding-related event anywhere in the world, where would you go?

Don’t let people’s nasty comments about visiting France get you down! It was my dream place to visit and I did four years ago and was not disappointed!

Gorgeous pics!

Oooo, sounds great!

I’d vote for a spa stay at any Ritz Carlton with my closest gal pals — sparing no expenses for all the royal treatments. :-) ‘Cause a dream event doesn’t go on my credit card, right? ;-)

I visited France a couple years ago, and I can’t wait to go back! It has it’s issues like any other tourist mecca, but it’s Paris! How could you not be in love???

You will not find any french dream-dashing from me- I spent a month studying abroad in Paris and savored every second of it, I’m dying to go back! And there really ARE bakeries that look like that! (not just Laduree either!) PM me if you would like some tips on traveling in Paris/France ;)

Le sigh indeed! I can totally imagine shutting the store down to nibble on some treats while sipping champagne for a bridal shower.

Whoever said Paris isn’t amazing and a total dream is crazy! I’m in love with the city… and Laduree was one of my favorite places when I visited :)

Quelle reve magnifique! I second Star. I lived with a French family outside of Paris (shout out to mes amis a Levallois!). I don’t care what anyone says, France is wonderful. So dream about putting on some understated make up, grabbing your favorite scarf, and enjoying a lovely Chablis in the most fabulous city on the planet!

ohhh laduree! love love love. i’m actually having my wedding in france (not paris though), and am really hoping to have the lovely little laduree boxes with macroons as my favors. i’m such as sucker for the packaging and designs they use and am using that for inspiration for my wedding :)

oh, and i forgot to mention that Paris is absolutely my most favorite city in the world… and i’ve traveled a lot! so i’d just echo what everyone else has already said - don’t let a few negative comments get you down. my experience has generally been that if you keep an open mind when traveling and interacting new cultures - you’ll always be pleasantly surprised! I hope you make it over to France soon Miss Parfait, b/c it really is just incroyable!

Mmmm, macarons de ladurée! If we were having cake it actually wouldn’t be from ladurée though, when it comes to macarons they definitely take the cake (pun totally intended), but I prefer Pierre Hermé’s amazing cakes! Maybe we’ll see if we have some budget left for cake, but at this point I doubt it!

I would choose Barcelona Spain..me, my girls, sitting in a cafe, sharing a pitcher (or two of Sangria) and amazing food :-)

Paris in a heartbeat - I fell in love with the city after studying abroad there in college. There’s sooo many cute shops & swanky hotels where you can pretend you’re royalty!
I’ll repeat what others have said - don’t let negative comments hold you back from visiting!! I swear the people who say bad things about the French have never actually been to France and/or met a French person. They are much different than the “stereotype.”

My sister and mom went to the Paris Laduree and brought back two boxes! I know they’re not as tasty after a plane trip, but they were still heavenly :) Someday you’ll go and I want to see pictures :)
