Daydreaming in Color

October 7th, 2009 @ 10:32 am by Mrs. Parfait

Springtime in Chicago, as I’ve mentioned before, tends to be gray and wintry. Snow, slush, boots, and thick coats are on display well into the season. By the time our April wedding date rolls around, I know I’ll be ready for bright tulips and unabashed sunshine! That’s part of the reason we chose our new color scheme of pink, orange, and yellow.

I’ve been flipping through the beautiful inspiration boards at Snippet and Ink, looking for something that can help define our new wedding theme. Something with our fresh, citrus-y colors. Something that says, “Pow!” The following boards came with descriptions that match the mood we hope to achieve at our wedding.

Bold and fun:

Bright and classic yet quirky:

Quirky, cheerful, and fun:

All beautiful ways to usher in the spring season, don’t you think? How often do you (or did you) change your mind about your wedding colors?

i love your inspiration boards. My colors are actually the one thing in my wedding planning that hasn’t changed… unlike the date, venue, etc…

My colors have been set for some time and only had one minor revision (1 additional color added to the mix) I love the bright colors- especially the yellow and pink. So much fun and it can’t help but infuse joy into your wedding. :-)

I love the bold & fun board! Bright colors are so celebratory — and I totally hear you on the grey, slushy days of “spring”!

I love the colors, and the “bold and fun” board. We have changed our colors several times from originally black and teal (got sick of hearing “what’s teal?”), to black and pink, to black, lilac & champagne. We wanted black because we thought it would make it easier for the BM to get black dresses they could use more than once. Apparently giving them too much freedom made it overly complicated for them, and it’s still been a nightmare.

@Kathryn: Oh gosh, I always do. Thank YOU! :)

@tea: Haha, I’m trying to restrain myself, too. I saw a vibrant purple + bright pink combo in a magazine yesterday that sent my imagination flying!

@ColorCoated: Agreed, I love when the tulips start blooming everywhere!

I changed my mind once. But I keep flitting between keeping it yellow and white and adding teal to give it a bit of depth and colour. In the end it’s going to stay yellow and white I think :)
I love those boards! The light green is stunning….

i love these colors - i had originally picked them for our May 1 wedding for the same reason! we’ve sinced morphed to a yellow/green/blue color scheme, but the tulips are still in play.

These are great! I love the fun, cheerful colors. I changed our wedding color pallete because I wasn’t sure how to incorporate the blue that I initially wanted.
