I’m also an English major with a serious obsession with alliteration and rhymes. While I’m not keeping America safe, I’m training for half marathons and the Escape from Alcatraz swim. Or moving for the third time this year. Or baking. Or wedding crafting. Or crying about wedding planning. All the while, I’m getting myself into Lucille Ball-esque scrapes and making Jim Carey-esque faces. Our big fat Czech/Baptist/Jewish/Italian wedding is a combination of vintage eclectic, DIY, and little spoonful of sugar from our Event Coordinator. It’s going to be a Norfolk flavored wedding with the verve of an only-daughter-blow-out bash!

Icing on the Cake

October 7th, 2009 @ 12:01 pm by Mrs. Lamb

Another term, similar to icing on the cake, is “that’s just gravy”. I never associated the two until this past Memorial Day when my Grandma asked for her slice of yellow cake to be placed in the pool of gravy that had collected after she finished her mashed potatoes.

Whether it’s icing, or gravy, this post is really about cake toppers. There were two that I’ve been keeping my eye on as I troll through my bookmarked adornments.

There were only two requirements I had in mind for the cake topper:

  1. Vintage
  2. Cheap

That’s kind of my mantra for most of the wedding details… vintage cheap, vintagcheep, cheep cheep. :)

The second one? The bride’s dress seems similar to your “heritage” gowns.

I love the idea of a Vintage wedding topper! I’ve found a bunch on Ebay. I would def go with the 2nd one, and like mcnetn3 said, remove all of the stuff around it!! :)

Hmm, I agree: #2. I also think that you might not use the doves/rings/flowers/bell that’s adorning it.

Wait.. back up. Cake in gravy? That… well, whatever floats your boat I guess (sorry, I just ate and the sound of ANY kind of food makes me bleh). Maybe it’s BOTH! Two cakes, two toppers.
