Relationship Series: Physical Attraction

October 8th, 2009 @ 12:39 pm by Beehive

Be sure to check out all the posts in our Relationship Series here!

~~~
Were you physically attracted to your fiance immediately, or did the physical attraction come after you got to know each other more?
Mrs. Mascara - I had a huge crush on Mr. Mascara as a high school freshman, which is weird considering we didn’t really know each other at that point! I remember secretly being jealous when he asked a friend of mine to a dance my freshman year. We didn’t end up dating until a couple years later, but I think the attraction was always there!
Mrs. Snow Pea - Immediately. He had good teeth, eyes, a nice smile and clean fingernails.
Mrs. Mouse - It wasn’t immediate, as in “the first second I saw him”, but I was physically attracted to my husband by the end of the night we first met, when he kissed me. I’m pretty sure it was mutual. :)
Mrs. Bruschetta - I had a school girl crush on Mr. Bruschetta (hey, come on, I was 17!), and that’s what inspired me to ask him to my senior prom. We started dating a few weeks after the prom — but not before I learned that he thought I was cute, too. :)
Miss Lamb - I’m fairly certain that there was no physical attraction between us when we first met. He couldn’t remember my first name and I really liked someone else at the time. After two years of friendship, we grew into something more. Now I get shivers just thinking about him and how that man is going to me mine forever!
Mrs. Gloss - Not really on my end (but to be fair it was high school, and he hadn’t quite grown into his nose yet) – although the lack of attraction was not mutual :). We spent a lot of time together at tennis practice and teaching ski lessons in the winter and became good friends first. I fell in love with his personality and our relationship developed from there.
Mrs. Bunny - I wouldn’t say I was attracted to him immediately. We had mutual friends, so we knew each other casually for awhile before I suddenly got a crazy intense crush on him. Like, one second I didn’t have a thing for him, the next second, he was all I could think about! At that point, I was done for! ;)
Mrs. Crab Cake - I don’t think it was immediate. I must have thought he was cute, I did strike up conversation with him in a bar 4 hours from home. I was definitely hooked by the end of our first date, though. Even after the worst Italian food I’ve ever had, and a vulgar comedy show. He was a perfect gentleman and had me hooked!
Mrs. Joey - I would say sort of. I saw him and thought he was really cute but then dismissed it because I heard he had a girlfriend.
Miss Ramen - I always thought Mr. Ramen was really cute, but not in an “I want you now” kind of way. But now… the years have been very very good to him. :)
Mrs. Peep Toe - Mr. Peep was so shy when we first met that I didn’t even remember meeting him the first three times. I now like to say he’s a slow burn—I can’t imagine not noticing his cute smile and his kind eyes.
Miss Star - I thought he was cute before I really knew him, and he says he thought I was smokin’. ;) We both think we’re getting better looking with age! Or maybe that’s just love talking…
Miss Dachshund - Because Mr. Dachshund and I met on the internet, we were able to get to know each other, and fall in love with each others’ personalities before we saw each other in person. That said, I remember thinking just how attractive he was that night I picked him up at LAX for the first time! He definitely would have caught my attention if he was just a stranger on the street. :)
Miss Frozen Yogurt - I was definitely attracted to Mr. Fro Yo when I first saw him, and I was embarrassed because I was wearing a plain tee and some jeans, not expecting to meet anyone at this little bar. He did however, need a little help in the style department. He’s much better now, though. :)
Mrs. Mary Jane - Mr. Mary Jane and I were friends before we became an “item”. I did think he was pretty cute, but that’s about as far as it went because I really was not looking to date (and, he was also a coworker!). Later, when things got a little more intense (”tension,” anyone?), I thought he was very attractive indeed.
Mrs. Cupcake - The first time I saw Mr. Cupcake, he was playing beer pong and wearing a mullet wig (it was Halloween, remember?). I could tell he had a cute face and great eyes despite the goofy costume, and I was already attracted to his personality once we started to talk, but I was pleasantly surprised to find out just how adorable he was when the mullet wig came off later that night. I was definitely instantly attracted to him from that first night.
Mrs. Cherry Blossom - Hmmmm … Imma have to think about that one. Just kidding. Yes I was instantly attracted to him. The funny thing is, my friends knew before I did because before we met on our own, they had actually wanted to introduce me to him (but it failed). LOL
Mrs. French Bulldog - As you know, Mr Frenchie and I met online. I was immediately attracted to this picture on his profile. Yes, there were other pictures of his whole face, but I liked his smile in the this one obviously, because I saved it. Haha.
Miss Cloud - Mr. Cloud and I met through our best man, but about two years before actually meeting him, I saw his picture online (Webshots anyone? You know you stalked your friends’ pictures). My roommate at the time and I saw Mr. Cloud’s picture and immediately started calling him Best Man’s Hot Friend. So yeah, I was attracted from the first time I laid eyes on him. It’s funny though, I think he is even MORE attractive now, because I know him, and the more I know him the better looking he gets. Funny how things work out like that.
Miss Poodle - Immediately physically attracted? That would be a BIG yes! Form the moment I sat next to him after he picked me up while hitchhiking I was attracted. And according to Mr. Poodle, it was mutual. Hehe.
Mrs. Dumpling - Um yeah! He’s hecka fine! Then I realized how goofy and ghetto and cheap he was and I was all over it.
Ms. Champagne - I was IMMEDIATELY attracted to Champ and knew that we would have great chemistry. I actually thought he looked like a player (which was kind of a turn on—sad, I know), but when he opened up to me I realized he was in our relationship for good.
Ms. Swan - When I first met him I really didn’t think of him that way (again, I was pretty clueless/not really looking for anyone) although we were in a beach setting, so we got to see each other without a lot of clothing on. I was pretty impressed by what I saw, but I wouldn’t say I was completely attracted at first. I think he was impressed, too. :) I definitely have grown to appreciate how attractive he is.
Mrs. Cherry Pie - I was physically attracted to Mr. CP when I first met him. The thing that did me in was his smile! We didn’t start dating for a while, but once we got close as friends, I realized that I also liked his physique and, surprisingly, his smell. Scent is always important to me, and he wins big in that department.
Mrs. Duckling - I met Mr. Ducky when I was a freshman in college and definitely thought he was cute and very attractive. However, we didn’t start dating until 2 years later and I still was very attracted to him, which only grew as we got to know each other.
Mrs. Espresso - I was immediately attracted to Mr. Espresso the first time I saw him. I was being introduced to him and I couldn’t stop staring into his baby blues. Ahhh… love at first sight. :)
~~~

Were you immediately attracted to your SO when you first met?

I wish I was a Bee because I love to talk about this! Attraction is all we had at first when we met at a 3-week training course at 22 years old. We lived in different cities and were waay too young to commit to a relationship. 4 years later the attraction only got stronger and he found me after not speaking for 2 years and asked me to be his girlfriend! Now we have a very healthy relationship and the chemistry is still off the charts.

I was super attracted to my FI, he says he felt the same way. It was definitely love at first sight. We were a couple 2 days later, and almost 4 years after that, we’re planning our wedding!

Totally. :) We met online, and I thought he was an incredible cutie from his profile picture. ;) And when I met him in person, he was a little late and I was on the phone with my now-MOH… I saw him walk by and I said to her, “Wow, I hope that’s him… he’s HOT!” ;) And it was DEFINITELY mutual. ;)

Oh definitely. He walks with confidence and talks like he knows everything (and really pretty much does)…and he has straight teeth, blue-green eyes, and the cutest rear! I was hook, line, and sinker before I even knew what his name was!!

Technically, I first “met” my FI years before we started dating, but back then he was just my friend’s older brother, and I didn’t have a second thought about him. When we “first met” again and started dating soon after, I was attracted to him pretty much right away, but not nearly as much as I am now.

Yes, although I was only 11. I was always “boycrazy” but I had a funny feeling that there was something very different about this one. Needless to say, I was most certainly correct!

I actually wasn’t! We were friends for about 3 years and I never once thought of him as anything else…It was so wierd, the second I found out he had a crush on me, I did a 180 and realized how cute he actually was!

This is a big NO for me. I didn’t like him in any way when I first met him…personality, looks anything. Clearly things can change.

I met the boy when I was out with friends one night, ended up at the same bar and we had quick intro’s. I didnt think much of it or even really remember him. A few days later we all went out for my birthday and again he was there, started paying me alot of attention, etc… Later that night I get home and there is a message on my computer from him, he’d gotten my AIM from a friend and left me a message spelling out his last name and telling me to memorize it bc it was going to be mine someday… lol. The 3rd time we hung out I started to notice how cute he was, and liked his personality, but whenever we were leaving and he took my hand as we were walking outside it was like BAM!! This feels so right! I like this guy!! I could just tell it was meant to be!! :)

It’s funny…I actually remember the very first time I saw FI. We were both working summer jobs at a certain home improvement store. I was at the cash register and he walked by carrying a door. I definitely thought he was cute, and he was for-sure my type. I like big football-player type guys and FI is 6′ and 220 lbs. I loved his big arms and puppy dog eyes. Since I was home from school for the summer, I was just looking for a hook-up ;o) but it obviously turned into something else!

we met online but the reason i even stopped to check out his blog was because of his profile picture. yes, i’m kind of shallow, but it was his words that hooked me. the attraction grew as we got to know each other before we finally met in person.

I met my guy via match.com so we didn’t really have that “see you from across the room” thing going. I thought he was cute from his pictures, but he wasn’t smiling in any of them which was weird!! We then talked for 2 weeks during which time I believe the words were uttered by me to my best friend “I’m either going to marry this guy or he’s going to break my heart.” When we first met in person I was so nervous and the first thing I noticed was how TALL he was!! I had never dated a guy almost a foot taller than me (and i’m 5′6″ so I”m no shorty) and I think I spent most of the date looking at his feet. heh. Now I think my guy is VERY cute. We don’t really agree on personal style… but I just let him do his thing!

@Mrs. French Bulldog - I LOVE that you saved his profile picture.
Mr. S and I met online too. I liked his pictures and we met for lunch the first time, I thought he was good looking. The physical attraction came on as we got to know each other better.
For him it was immediate he said. I walked in the door and BAM! - he was a goner he says. :)

Yes. He had the most amazing smile. You know that one sided one that only comes out every so afternoon when he’s smiling with his heart? And he has the most beautiful eyes.

I apparently don’t remember him the first night we saw eachother ( I went to the house he was hanging out at to pick up a friend. It was quick, in, up the stairs, out) but he remembers me! But the second time we were in that same house together … oh boy did he make an impression. Instantly I was drawn to how attractive he is. Just my “type” I suppose!

When I first met arizonagroom, it was at his sister’s wedding. I was a bridesmaid and he & I were both assigned readings. I was definitely attracted to him. He was clueless at the time and nothing happened between us and I went back home to AZ. I went on to get married to someone else and I would see arizonagroom when I would visit his sister. Then after my divorce, he came out to visit me. When I saw him again, I was shocked that he had gained weight, but was still attracted and he was obviously attracted to me:-) When we moved in together, he had to start eating healthier, like me, and he dropped 25 lbs. in like 2 months!

His smile. When I saw him smile, I smiled too. Two and a half years later, I still always smile when I see him smile.

No way! ;) He was a “ladies’ man,” and I just couldn’t see what everyone else saw in him! But obviously eventually I did….We are getting married Nov 14. :) And he is freakin adorable.

We met at a wedding. I remember walking into the reception and pointing out how cute he was to my friend. He noticed me, too, because ten minutes later, he walked up and introduced himself. We saw each other randomly a few more times, but didnt start dating until a couple months later. I think he’s devistatingly handsome. Sigh…

I really thought hubby was HOT when I met him, but we were at a party with some girls who were signficantly more attractive and also much less clothed than I was! I guess he didn’t go for the skank type, though since he ended up with me :)

I was definitely attracted to FI the first time we met - in a bar where a mutual friend was having us meet in a group setting. He didn’t know he was being set up :) I caught a glimpse of his shaved head in the mirror behind the bar as he approached us, looked at my friend and said “I love baldies!”, turned around to shake his hand, and the rest is history!

no physical attraction at first. I was dating someone else…but I was definitely distracted by his humor and charisma…
he won me over by other means, but I think he’s terribly good looking and definitely can’t keep my hands off him now!

Well, I walked into the door of the new years eve party I went to, saw him immediately, and told my friend, “I want that one.”

And I got him. :) First kiss that night, moved in together a week later, he told me he loved me another week later. :)

Not sure if it was physical attraction…I was IMMEDIATELY drawn to him, but I distinctly remember that it was due a particularly deep comment I overheard him say about the play our study abroad group attended. I twirled around to get in on the conversation - and our conversing hasn’t stopped since!

I don’t even remember what it was. I just remember going to meet him and expecting to not be attracted from him because of old photos a friend showed me. Boy, what I wrong! I sat across from him and he was talking to me about I can’t even remember what, and I just sat quietly staring and smiling like a fool because he was seriously one of the best people I have ever met. :)

The first time I saw FI was on MySpace after he sent me a message. I was in the habit of deleting random messages from guys but he was so cute! I emailed my best friend and said ‘my type just emailed me on myspace - what do I do??’ and she wrote back ‘you write him back!’ Wise girl… So I did and we met in person about a week later and as soon as he spotted me he gave this big ‘ol smile and we hugged and he gave me a kiss on the cheek and all I could think was - this is gonna be good… Yay. :0)

Not at all. He was a pudgy long haired guy in high school and I wasn’t attracted to him in the least. But the feeling was mutual I know. And I thought he had the most annoying laugh! But then when we ran into each other again, we hadn’t seen each other in about a year, and that was when I was like “damn check HIM out” which was weird cuz I had never thought of him that way.

But now, he’s smokin hot to me. He still gives me butterflies when he walks into a room. And that annoying laugh? Sometimes I do funny things just to hear it. I know I know, love makes you do crazy things :)

I thought my husband was cute, but when I met him, he had a serious girlfriend. I definitely wanted to be his friend, but I don’t think I was entertaining the thought of anything more serious when we met.
