Miss Rainbow, Tampa Age and Occupation: 22, Makeup Artist Fiance's Age and Occupation: 25, Electrical Engineer/Programmer Engagement Date: November 27, 2008 Wedding Date: May 2010 Venue: The Gamble Plantation About Me: I'm a quirky (and slightly Type-A) freelance makeup artist who was born in Washington State, raised in Alabama, and now living with my one and only in sunny Florida. I'm fashion and beauty obsessed, and have recently discovered my inner domestic diva extraordinaire. I'm a wannabe chef, decorating addict, and trying desperately to be as crafty as possible---albeit only with a glue gun. I'm hopelessly in love with my fiance, and all things sparkly and feathery. Despite the glittery exterior, I'm a total hippie on the inside. When I'm not making up pretty faces, I love doing what I can to help people, animals, and the environment. About Miss Rainbow

These Shoes Rule.

October 10th, 2009 @ 11:35 am by Miss Rainbow

Let’s get some shoes. Oh my god. Shoes.

Kudos to anyone who got that reference. If you didn’t, you need a Kelly refresher course, stat.

Similar to a large chunk of the female population, I LOVE shoes. There’s just something about them. The shape, the colors, the endless variations of styles, that feeling you get when you see a shoe that you just can’t live without. I left behind one pair of Nicole Miller shoes in high school because of the price tag, and to this day I still think about them. I’ve gone to stores and have literally had my breath taken away by some of the shoes out there. Like any self-proclaimed shoe addict, there is but only one Shoe Goddess:

Carrie-02

source

Carrie Bradshaw. Those boots? Yes, please. The nude sandals? Most definitely. The black psuedo-dominatrix uber fabulous platforms? Own them. I kid you not, I’m waiting on the day that I can walk down the street in NYC in a pink tutu and some ferocious footwear. *Sigh* Now, being the shoe obsessed woman that I am, it was only fitting that I find the perfect pair of shoes to wear with my dress. Initially, I tried really really hard to be rational. I told myself that no one’s really going to see the shoes, so it really doesn’t matter, right? Right. I can find a cute pair of shoes for $100 or less, no problem. Until these babies walked into my life:

source

In the immortal words of Carrie Bradshaw: “Hello, Lover.”

I. Was. Done. They had to be mine. I was not going to let this turn into another Nicole Miller situation. Come ON! Look at them! How can you say no? The color, the sparkle, that 4″ heel. Ms. Bradshaw would certainly approve, as they were absolute perfection. Who cares if we’re having an outdoor wedding in grass? Yeah, I might break an ankle or two, but in the name of love, some sacrifices just have to be made. After a few weeks of cyber-stalking these beauties, my wonderful (and equally fashion obsessed) aunt offered to buy them for me. Uhm, THANK YOU! With not an ounce of hesitation, I placed my order. A week later, I received a box that looked a little like this:

piperli

source

Kudos on the packaging, Piperlime! It just added to the excitement. I tore into that thing, nervous, my hands literally shaking. Was I going to love them as much as I loved them in the picture, or would I be disappointed? I pulled away the last few sheets of tissue paper separating me from my shoes, and there they were. I was almost scared to touch them. The off-white satin was pristine, the rhinestones were just the right amount of sparkle, the sole was flawless, the construction even better. I carefully slipped them on; they were perfect. Everything I imagined and more. I think I may have even attempted (and failed) to moonwalk in them, I was that excited. I boxed them up, and went to try them on with my dress. I got to the bridal salon, put on my dress, slipped on the shoes, and walked out to the mirror to see how they looked. As soon as I lifted up the bottom of my dress, all eyes were on me. Every single woman in that salon commented on those shoes. I had reached shoe nirvana. It was official. In that moment, I was 100% validated. No regrets, no second thoughts, just pure shoe happiness. They are my favorite purchase, right up there with my dress. Some things just aren’t meant to be compromised.

Was there any particular purchase that, despite the price, you just knew you had to have some way, some how, no matter what?

LOVE THEM! I got my shoes from DSW and seriously felt the same way. I kept lifting up my dress at the salon and every girl kept saying how much they loved my shoes! Congrats on finding something you love and feeling so great on your decision!

I’ve been eyeing that same pair. Excellent choice! The styling is perfect. Given that they’re satin do you think they could be dyed?

As far as sinking in the grass I know a Bee recently mentioned this site: http://www.thesolemates.com/index.php (Sorry I don’t remember who) and said they worked perfectly.

Oh my god. I love them. They are actually perfect. In fact they’re so perfect I’m cursing the fact that I live in the UK and probably can’t afford the shipping for them. Wow. Those are some KILLER shoes.

Unng. Love shoes. Love those shoes. Wonderful choice.

I’m a “hello, lover” abuser. Not just for shoes, either. :p I did it over a pair of vintage woodie wayfarers the other day.

Yaay for Carrie Bradshaw and the bazillion shoe-loving women the world around! :P

GREAT choice, Rainbow.
You make me wanna buy a pair for absolutely no reason at all.
(maybe as ‘date shoes’. Make the husband take me out more often :P )

Gorgeous!

My shoes were my “splurge” purchase too. Or, at least, I intended them to be. I ended up breezing through a consignment shop one day, absolutely not looking for shoes at all, and there they were..

My wedding shoes. Absolutely perfect silver satin Manolo Blahnik, pointy toe, d’Orsay pumps w/ 2″ heel and rhinestone circle. Like the peep toes that have been circulating around the internet right now, but closed toe. Plus, they were ON SALE!!

I got my wedding gown on consignment, and because of how little I spent on it, I really couldn’t justify paying more for any of my other accessories that I did for my wedding dress. I got the best of both worlds, thankfully.

Siiigh. I am so jealous of you and your hot shoes. I am in a hopeless search for shoes. I too love them, but they don’t love me and my smaller-than-size-five child-sized feet back! Nothing fits!!

I’m lovin those nude sandals above as well as your shoes! I sympathize as a fellow shoe diva, but I think I may be heading the el cheapo route to save some money. : (

@ms boardwalk: Oh, tell me about it! I still look for those dang Nicole Millers on e-bay sometimes, just in case! @Lillindy: I did the exact same thing when I saw them on-line! I literally think my heart stopped for a second!
@Ms Potato Chips: Oh no! How tall are you lady?! You have some little feet! Good luck on ur shoe hunt! I used to work with a girl with teeny feet and she had some amazing shoes… I’ll see if I can find out where she gets hers!
