Let’s get some shoes. Oh my god. Shoes.
Kudos to anyone who got that reference. If you didn’t, you need a Kelly refresher course, stat.
Similar to a large chunk of the female population, I LOVE shoes. There’s just something about them. The shape, the colors, the endless variations of styles, that feeling you get when you see a shoe that you just can’t live without. I left behind one pair of Nicole Miller shoes in high school because of the price tag, and to this day I still think about them. I’ve gone to stores and have literally had my breath taken away by some of the shoes out there. Like any self-proclaimed shoe addict, there is but only one Shoe Goddess:

Carrie Bradshaw. Those boots? Yes, please. The nude sandals? Most definitely. The black psuedo-dominatrix uber fabulous platforms? Own them. I kid you not, I’m waiting on the day that I can walk down the street in NYC in a pink tutu and some ferocious footwear. *Sigh* Now, being the shoe obsessed woman that I am, it was only fitting that I find the perfect pair of shoes to wear with my dress. Initially, I tried really really hard to be rational. I told myself that no one’s really going to see the shoes, so it really doesn’t matter, right? Right. I can find a cute pair of shoes for $100 or less, no problem. Until these babies walked into my life:

In the immortal words of Carrie Bradshaw: “Hello, Lover.”
I. Was. Done. They had to be mine. I was not going to let this turn into another Nicole Miller situation. Come ON! Look at them! How can you say no? The color, the sparkle, that 4″ heel. Ms. Bradshaw would certainly approve, as they were absolute perfection. Who cares if we’re having an outdoor wedding in grass? Yeah, I might break an ankle or two, but in the name of love, some sacrifices just have to be made. After a few weeks of cyber-stalking these beauties, my wonderful (and equally fashion obsessed) aunt offered to buy them for me. Uhm, THANK YOU! With not an ounce of hesitation, I placed my order. A week later, I received a box that looked a little like this:

Kudos on the packaging, Piperlime! It just added to the excitement. I tore into that thing, nervous, my hands literally shaking. Was I going to love them as much as I loved them in the picture, or would I be disappointed? I pulled away the last few sheets of tissue paper separating me from my shoes, and there they were. I was almost scared to touch them. The off-white satin was pristine, the rhinestones were just the right amount of sparkle, the sole was flawless, the construction even better. I carefully slipped them on; they were perfect. Everything I imagined and more. I think I may have even attempted (and failed) to moonwalk in them, I was that excited. I boxed them up, and went to try them on with my dress. I got to the bridal salon, put on my dress, slipped on the shoes, and walked out to the mirror to see how they looked. As soon as I lifted up the bottom of my dress, all eyes were on me. Every single woman in that salon commented on those shoes. I had reached shoe nirvana. It was official. In that moment, I was 100% validated. No regrets, no second thoughts, just pure shoe happiness. They are my favorite purchase, right up there with my dress. Some things just aren’t meant to be compromised.
Was there any particular purchase that, despite the price, you just knew you had to have some way, some how, no matter what?
