Miss Frozen Yogurt, Dallas Age and Occupation: 28, Special Projects Coordinator Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Equity Trader Engagement Date: March 19, 2009 Wedding Date: April 2010 Venue: Marie Gabrielle, Dallas About Me: I was born and raised in Texas, and have lived in several of the cities across the state, but I currently reside in Austin. I went to college in Boston and have a special place in my heart for the Northeast. I love reading, shopping, wine, reuniting with college friends that are scattered across the country, reality TV, trying out new recipes, and attempting all the DIY projects that come along with wedding planning. I'm a "bleeding heart, save the world type" and thankfully my job allows me to work on legislation and policy to help out those in need. I met Mr. Frozen Yogurt in a bar, though he doesn't even drink! And now we are planning a modern yet vintage wedding in Dallas while dealing with the trials and tribulations of first time homeownership.

Wedding Signage!

October 11th, 2009 @ 11:30 am by Miss Frozen Yogurt

Yay!! This past weekend Mr. Fro Yo and I went to Home Depot and picked up some materials to get started on our wedding signs. Here’s what we got:

  • 2 pieces of wood for a fence ($1.79 each)
  • A can of white paint ($9)
  • A foam paint brush (59 cents), and
  • Wooden stakes ($6 for 12, we didn’t need that many but couldn’t find fewer that were the right size).

So we got to work. Mr. Fro Yo measured the boards:

Then sawed them in half:

As soon as they were ready, I started painting:

My first finished sign:

(I don’t know what I’m doing in this picture, I think saying photobooth?)

I like that these don’t have to be perfect, and in fact, they look better to me if they have a little character (i.e. similar to a project a child might create). I can’t wait to make the others, too!

Did you take on making signage for your wedding?

Ooooh! I made little framed signs for EVERYTHING. ;) It was honestly my favorite part! Made it very personalized!

You did a great job! You guys are so on top of wedding projects. I feel like such a slacker. :)

Nice job, we are doing signage…for our Mr. & Mrs. chairs and for our pets (must have smething to let our furry friends know we’re thinking of them)…..but I’m delegating this task to my MIL. She’s looking for a projects and since I have so many on the plate, I’m more than happy to pass these along.

I want to see the rest! :) I like when things have a hand-made look, too.

This is cute! It looks like you’re blowing on the sign to dry it. :)

I wish we had made signs… it was totally in the plans, but we just forgot once we got closer and have so much other stuff to do.

Very cute!! I’m definitely thinking about home made wooden signage for our (second) outdoor reception… :)

Those are adorable! :) I don’t know that I would have been that good at using a foam paint brush to make words — those things have a tendency to get wonky on me!

@tea: I think we’ll make about 4. I messed up on 2 of them, so I really only completed 2. :( but at least it wasn’t an expensive project!

Nicely done. Might need one of these as the turn off to the reception site is a pretty minor road.
