Mrs. Gloss's Picture
Mrs. Gloss, Boston/Maine Age and Occupation: 24, Designer/soon-to-be Architect Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Systems Engineer Engagement Date: May 23, 2008 Wedding Date: August 2009 Venue: SS Katahdin/Lakeside Tent About Me: I don't like nickels or the skin that forms on pudding when it's in the fridge for too long. I couldn't live without Pantone markers, fountain soda (3/4 diet, ¼ regular Coke), run-on sentences, or ridiculously oversized sunglasses. I will try to DIY almost anything and am just OCD enough to make most of it work. I am truly excited about having all my family and friends together, becoming Mrs. Gloss, and having amazing photos to prove it!
About Mrs. Gloss

While we were still sequestered away in our separate hotels, we exchanged our gifts.

I forced Mr. Gloss to write me a sweet, heartfelt note about how much he loved me. No really, I gave him the card to write it on and everything:

He gave me a beautiful jewelry box from Pottery Barn (which I like the believe comes with a lifetime promise to fill it with more shiny things). *cough*diamond studs*cough*

I wrote him a note (knowing he would probably skim it, hoping he would keep it to read later). He totally lost it. At least he pretended to read it for the photographer.

And then he opened his ’gift’.

Which happened to be a new acoustic electric guitar. I wrapped it well, huh? I didn’t want to lug it up to Maine so I gave him a guitar IOU and some new picks in his favorite color.

Look how excited he got!

What are you giving your groom?

Very cute! And a jewelry box is such a nice gift! Mr. Gloss sounds a little like my FI, he looses everything!

My groom didn’t even know we were supposed to exchange gifts, lol. I am thinking a watch even though it’s kinda traditional.

So sweet!! Mr. Fro Yo and I are trying to figure out what we’ll do. He said he’s paying for the wedding, so maybe that’s my gift. :)

So sweet! Of course I didn’t get a card, even though I hinted around it for awhile! But he did do well with the gift - he asked his grandmother months ago if he could have her cedar chest to give me someday….so he brought it home and his mom was storing it for him! Once we have a bigger place it will be lovely at the end of our bed!

I wanted to give him golf clubs, because it’s something I’ve enjoyed for years, and he played for his first time this year (and enjoyed it). MIL ruined the idea when she thought it was stupid, so I completely wasted money on 2 tickets and an overnight in a hotel to see Jeff Dunham! He LOVED it, and can’t wait to go on the 24th!

@Miss Frozen Yogurt: Mr. Gloss tried to pull that one over on me, saying that my rings were my gift ;). So we actually put a $100 limit on our gifts (which I ignored, since he DID buy me a pretty sweet ring).

Miss FroYo - that’s what my husband said too :)
I did give him a card though with a bunch of heartfelt stuff. He still has it in his suitcase.

what sweet gifts! we still have time, so i have no idea what i’m going to get for my mister, but definitely something personal, i love the idea of getting a classic gift, like a really nice watch and then engraving it with something like, “love is timeless”

Super cute gifts! I love the jewlery box - and the plan to fill it with shiny things!

My hubby gave me a Rolex - he joked it was to make sure I made it to the church on time (I am always late)

My fiance has been begging and whining about getting a recliner….He finally gave up when I said that we just don’t have room in our tiny 1 bedroom apt……

So I am getting him a gift card for a recliner that he can get right after our wedding…..Even if we need to move everything around to fit it in there. ;)

I got boudoir pics done for him, and since he’s paying for the honeymoon, I told him he doesn’t have to get me anything :)

What a great gift. My sister and I got our best friend a similar jewelry box from Pottery Barn when she got married, engraved with her new monogram. :)

I have been hint hinting @ a jewelry box since mine has been with me since high school and the doors have come off lol. I haven’t decided what to get him yet. I think if I pick him up anything from the apple store, he’s be happy.I keep taking notes every time we stop in there lol

I love the pictures of your ‘gift exchange’ :) Mr. Savannah would totally lose the card as well! HA!

I got my sweetie something very traditional… 18k white gold ‘knot’ cufflinks. I wanted to give him something special to wear on our wedding day, and a watch was out! (he has too many already)

I would love a jewelry box— your gift is sooo pretty!

Aww the box is beautiful! So sweet these moments were captured. I wish someone had been around to capture Mr Lightning’s response to his socks and pocket watch. Sadly the photographer could only be with us.

that’s awesome! I totally want a jewelry box as well… maybe i’ll drop some hints. As for what I’m getting my groom, I’m going a similar route to you — I actually found a builder to make my fiance a custom ukulele and I got to pick the woods and design a custom inlay with his initials… I can’t wait for the photographer to capture his reaction. I think he might pee his pants, and then owe me awesome presents for the rest of our days :)

AH ha ha ha! I love that you gave him the card to write on and everything! One of my coworkers got married in Alaska and didn’t know about the note thing til I told him! Love the jewelry box!

Aww, that’s really sweet. We didn’t do a gift exchange because we figured we were spending enough money with the wedding and the honeymoon.

My fiance has a guitar (that is constantly on display in our office) that could use some servicing. I think I am going to do that for him. But the problem I have is trying to get it out of the house. I think I might have to do that while we are away in HI getting married. Maybe I should enlist one of my friends to pick up/drop off for me.

I’m sure I’ll have to gently remind the Mr. about the gift exchange and sweet note. Great gift choices.

i too wondered about leaving this tradition up to my fiance, and knowing him, he doesn’t know those types of things. So, I have too reminded him of it, and I told him already what I am getting him, just because I noticed he was almost going to buy it (a new Icon motorcycle helmet) for himself, and I had to stop him, sucks that he already knows, but we decided we’re going to play it off so for the cameras. I still do not have any clue of what he will get for me, or if he will remember!?

FI and I both really want to get laser eye surgery so our gifts to each other post-nuptials is that. Better vision to see each other clearly into our old age…lol.

Great gift ideas - I’m thinking something like a bass for my boy … and giving the picks was a great idea! Also - loverboy loses things all the time (keys, letters, notes, money … everything) so I’m betting if I write a letter - it’ll be lost, too!

I’m getting him a collection of rare books he has been coveting since I met him. Each book is signed by the author. I just hope he doesn’t buy it for himself first. :)

Don’t know what mine will be yet. Honestly if I get a sweet card I’ll be happy.
