Mr. Bunny and I work at competing weekly newspapers, which makes it a little interesting trying to describe our work joys and frustrations without giving away too much before the paper comes out. About Mrs. Bunny

Oy, the Bunny Bridal Countdown has been languishing as of late. We’d best get a move on or it’ll be my first anniversary before I finish recapping that shindig!

After polishing off the too-small experimental Pepperidge Farm coconut cake, I was back to square one with no cake ideas.

All the cakes I saw online were too fancy or too complicated. I wanted something simple, rustic, and cheap! A wedding featured on Style Me Pretty in early June caught my attention with this beauty:

source

Simple and lovely, and just the right size for a cutting cake!

Around that same time, I fortuitously received an e-mail from Mr. Bunny’s sister, offering the services of her mother-in-law, who bakes and decorates cakes for friends and family. A few emails later, and ba-da-boom, our cake was taken care of, right?

Well, not quite.

Mama Bunny was insistent that we provide cake to our guests, even though I had planned on a cookie bar instead. We decided that we’d turn to those trusty bakers at Costco to feed our guest list of 170. It’s cheap ($16 per half sheet cake), and comes in some great flavors: Chocolate or vanilla cake; vanilla buttercream, chocolate or cream cheese icing; and vanilla cheesecake, chocolate mousse, or strawberry filling.

Neither of us had had cake from Costco before, though. What better excuse to order a sheet cake or two than my little bro’s high school graduation party?!

We ordered two cakes, each with a different combination of cake and icing flavors.

This did have Brother Bunny’s name on it (and my cousin’s, since it was a joint graduation party), but I ’shopped them out for privacy.

How did it taste? Magnificent! Our guests raved about the cake, and it was better than any other grocery store cake I’ve tried.

This kid liked the cake. I did, too.

Congrats, Brother Bunny! You’re a cutie pie, and your graduation cake tasted awesome. Thanks for being our cake guinea pig!

Anyone else like Costco cake?

I heart Costco cake. But then again I like any cake as long as it doesn’t have nuts or coconut on it!

I’ve never had costco cake, but I love grocery store cakes — I may or may not have purchased them in the past “just because.”

You know, honestly, I don’t like Costco cake. It’s something that I have grown up with and I think their cakes really just do not taste good to me at all. Sorry to be Debbie Downer over here- maybe it’s just something about my local Costco? Maybe it’s just one flavor that I’ve consistently eaten and dislike?
I do, however, enjoy one of the cakes in their bakery section. I think it’s called “All-American Chocolate Cake” or something like that and it’s totally scrumptious!

I LOVE Costco’s Cakes and cupcakes. It’s way better than any of the other grocery store cakes. Everything is so rich, moist, and creamy

Hmmm, never had it, but I usually like grocery store cake, it’s the icing that I usally don’t care for. But if costco got that right, then I bet they’re awesome.

Costco cake is so good! My mom seriously looks for excuses when she can buy one since they are huge. My favorite is definitely their carrot cake…mmm…

I’ve never had Costco cake, either, but I’ve heard awesome things! We are having wheels of cheese for our wedding cake, so we ordered Costco sheet cakes to satisfy our guests sweet teeth. Maybe I’m a ditz, but taste testing them never even crossed my mind! :)

OMG I LURVE Costco cake! My office used to celebrate EVERYTHING - weddings, babies, promotions, and I loved getting in on the Costco cake action. Of course, that is why I weighed 323 pounds! :) Glad you enjoyed it!

Um, I loooove Costco cake. When we got engaged, one of the first things I said was, “I want a Costco cake!” … My FI still laughs about that.

Oh my gosh, we use Costco cakes for EVERYTHING around here! We recommend them to all of our friends because they are AMAZING! My friend just did the exact same thing for her wedding, and all of the people were picking up the costco cake over the cutting cake because it looked (and tasted) soo much better.

We had costco cake at MY graduation party - I believe they also did red velvet at that time … and it was incredible!

I’ve never had Costco cake either. Hmmm, maybe this fact alone is enough to entice me to get a membership?

And I love costco cake! I’ve only had their white cake though, but it was delish.

Never had a costco cake, but Sam’s isn’t bad! We’re thinking about doing this for people who want cake, cause I’d rather have PIE!

My son and DIL had costco cake at their AHR. It had a cream cheese filling- the guests raved about the cake and said it was some of the best they’d ever had! Everyone wanted to know where it was from and couldn’t believe it was Costco!

Not Costco, but I had Sam’s Club cake at my high school graduation, my bro’s high school graduation, and liked it so much we did it for our wedding too! And yep, it was our cutting cake, flat and sheetlike and all. Didn’t have to worry about a topper that way. :)
