French Candy for the Ladies

October 13th, 2009 @ 12:44 pm by Mrs. Parfait

Every time I hear the word “ladies” nowadays, I can’t help but think of Demetri Martin:

An easy way to sound like a creep is to add the word ‘ladies’ to the end of things you say. It can be harmless too, but it just makes you a creep. ‘Yeah after college I spent two years in the peace corps… ladies?’ The more harmless it is, the more of a creep you become. ‘I broke my arm. I need help… ladies?’

Back to the topic at hand! There are some settings in which I cannot imagine having a bad time with my ladies. This is definitely one of them:

French Candy for the Ladies : wedding bridal shower 148 french1

Numbered vases, personalized china, monogrammed napkins…

French Candy for the Ladies : wedding bridal shower 27 2

Roses, bows, and candy are sweet surprises against the sleek, contemporary linens and glasses.

I saw this bridal shower at Hostess with the Mostess, who saw it at Brides.com. The ever-creative Hostess blog suggested a “French Candy” theme for this party. French-inspired nibbles and drinks would be perfect in the Parisian cafe atmosphere. I’d love to create this setting for an all-ladies event, like a bachelorette party (the innocent kind) or a bridal shower! It’s way beyond my hostessing skills, but maybe with some help from my bridesmaids, we could pull off something close. ;)

What are your favorite themes for all-girls events?

The decor is so gorgeous! The black and white stripes paired with hot pink and light pink just works somehow!

i love this!!!! so much pink fun! Since pink is my favorite colors and going to be no where in my wedding plans, I really hope that at least I get a pink shower or bachelorette party!

I love it! We just did a Breakfast at Tiffany’s theme for my sisters shower. It was so girly and fun.

Ahaha, I think of the same skit when I hear “ladies…”! Everytime I hear someone say it I crack up.

Heehee, we should just use this theme for our Bee meet-ups, so we can all enjoy the pink girliness!

Soooo cute! I just did a shower for one of my bridesmaids who is all about ballons. I started collecting balloon images and ended up with something resembling a 5 year old’s birthday. Some re-worked colors and less balloons, and I really liked it.

Hostess with the Mostess has way too many amazing ideas though - geeze!

I LOVE this. Very chic. I would have done this for my wedding but my husband is not a fan of pink. These would be cute ideas for an upscale baby shower if you knew they were having a girl!

This theme is so fun and girly but the black makes it very classy. I did a Marie Antoinette theme that was great fun. I’m not usually a girly girl but you sometimes need to venture to the pink and frilly side now and again. A bachelorette or shower is the perfect excuse ;)

I love all the black and pink decor! The colors work so well together and look totally hip.

Oh Dimitri! Ugh.
This is so fun and pretty! I’m not a big pink girl … it just doesn’t do it for me - but this is a blast!

Adorable! I love the theme, but I also like Marie Antoinette over the top ridiculous amounts of EVERYTHING! It’s similar, but not quite the same.

What a classy yet romantic theme. I will have to show this to my friends and see what they have to say. Thanks.
