Ms Potato Chips's Picture
Ms. Potato Chips, Boston/Narragansett RI Age and Occupation: 29, PhD Student Fiance's Age and Occupation: 30, Personal Trainer/Business Owner/Physical Therapy Assistant Engagement Date: January 1, 2009 Wedding Date: June 2010 Venue: The Narragansett Towers About Me: A semi-professional bookworm, if I could be a literary character I’d be a cross between Jo March and Jane Eyre, only better accessorized and much lazier. My hobbies include sleeping in, seasonal brews, running, Trader Joe’s, and watching Unwrapped and Good Eats with Mr. Potato Chips. I harbor an irrational fear of tulle, crafts, things that are fussy, and overuse of the phrase "Your Special Day". After a year or seven together, down the aisle we go, slouching toward adulthood and planning a Rhodie party with equal parts whimsy, cheer, and pizza.
About Ms Potato Chips

I’m so over big bows and mini-brides (was I ever under them?)! I love the idea of dressing our flower girl in a preppy little J.Crew number. I don’t know what it is about the ‘Crew; I haven’t shopped there in years, but their stuff lately has got me coveting! I covet!!

Like Jezebel.com writes, “J.Crew’s Ovary-Busting Children Should Come with a Warning.” Their caption is spot-on!

For crying out loud. The cute is killing me. Can I sue? Can my ovaries sue? Can my empty uterus sue? I’ve always kind of been the person who was like, oh kids. Those are for poor people and rich people. I’d rather spend my money on vacations to Tahiti and Japanese lessons. But I forgot how utterly adorable they could be. If only it were as easy as dialing J.Crew’s 800 number and putting one on your MasterCard.

Proof?

I love their expressions; the one on the left looks like she might choke you. The other one is like, B*tch please!

Mr. Potato Head has a niece (age 7) and two nephews (ages 6 and 10). I’ll be honest. I’m not very good with kids. I talk to them like they’re adults. I’m all, “So what’s new? Anything good going on this weekend?” I put his niece’s Barbie in Ken’s pants and tell her she’s going off to work. Obnoxious stuff like that. I agreed they should be included in the wedding and I’m happy to have the little tater tots involved with everything. But I was also a little bit like, oh, kids.

However, now that I realize I don’t have to put mini-Chip in a big bow-laden dress, I am totes magotes on board. Besides, if I were a kid in a wedding I’d be psyched to wear some weird preppy funky stuff and give everyone the stink-eye.

I love that skirt! And I love the girl of the left, she reminds me of the girl I nanny, saying to her dad, “you had BETTER get me a nintendo DS”.

those are so cute… checking out jcrew kid clothes is definitely making me re-think not having a flower girl, but i just don’t have a cute enough kid in either of our families to pull it off…

Woah, the ‘tude those kids are giving off has the exact opposite effect on my ovaries!

Our FG is wearing a floor length tutu with a tank top and cardigan and organza flower in her hair. So, very similar expect that her mother made the tutu. It’s adorable!

I haven’t even thought about flower girl attire yet — but I totally love the JCrew look. And the Blair Waldorf inspired headband = too cute.

Ms Chip, love that you read jezebel, I read it fairly religiously, but no one knows what I am talking about, so I just have to say…this blog I read.
Also, I am a kindergarten teacher and I still talk to the kids like adults sometimes…”So what are you kiddos doing this weekend?” They occasionally tell me that I am weird, but we enjoy each others company most of the time.
Love the Mini-Blairs for the weewedding participants.

HIGH-larious! “B*tch, please.” You’re awesome. I’d like to wear these outfits myself. Revolutionary costume, as Edie would say! I’m no help.

I wish we were having a flower girl just so I could dress her in Crewcuts…I’d totally rock that outfit though myself!

LOVE IT!
Thank you for bringing a little humor today! This is a great post, I hadn’t even started thinking about the flower girl clothing (I was still stuck in the ohhhhhh, kids. stage) - Thanks for the inspiration. <3 you!!

Ok so I am really uncool and don’t understand this whole “totes magotes” thing…so I had to look it up in urban dictionary (very good resource for people like me)…here’s the link for others of you who don’t get it:

Ms. Chips - I love your posts, even though I am not hip.

I love that you said totes magotes. I had no idea it was spelled that way, but the fiance and I use that allll the time.

cute! I love the whole out of the ordinary thing, & think this would be amazing, but unfortunately it doesn’t exactly fit in with the style :(

Oh, it’s all so cute. Is it wrong to want kids clothes for yourself? Too bad I haven’t fit into them since middle school.

Ha! love your post. “Besides, if I were a kid in a wedding I’d be psyched to wear some weird preppy funky stuff and give everyone the stink-eye”

Love it!

I had previously nixed the idea of including flowergirl/ringboy because I though it was just a hassle but I might have to reconsider now. My nephew can definitely work a stink-eye.

: D
