While the guys took portraits in the parking lot, we were hustling to be on time. Champ always teases me about the fact that I am always, without a question, 15 minutes late to everything. We even joked about changing the ceremony time so I wouldn’t be late, but I was determined to show him I could be on time for once. My mom grabbed my dress and we took what could be the most awkward series of photos from the day.

Our first mistake occurred before we would even think about it.
My dress was completely sideways as I tried to get it on, and it only got worse.

My perfectly curled hair got caught on my zipper and all I could think was, ‘oh God, please don’t let my clip-in extensions slide out.’

I worked so hard to match the color of the piece to my hair and all I could picture was a little wig clip-in stuck to my zipper dangling down my back as I walked down the aisle. Not your classic “blushing bride” moment.

Note to brides wearing your hair down: think about the execution of putting on your dress before starting the process!

We finally got it straightened out, and headed downstairs to zip her up.
When my brother and sister-in-law were married, I remember her mom zipping up her dress and it being such a special moment between the two of them. In fact, some of the bees have had such cute photos taken and moments captured while putting on their dress. Unfortunately for me, it would take a small army to zip up my dress, as it was practically painted on. So instead of “ooohs” and “aahs” it was “dude, you’re going to need to suck in a little more” and, “oh man, did that hurt? I think I got some skin with the zipper”.

We finally got the dress on, and it was time for flowers! One step closer to the church… breathe…

Thanks, mom.

My cousin passed the bouquets, and everything was starting to come together! The morning of the wedding I got a call from our florist that the peonies in the bridesmaid bouquets would have to be replaced because they arrived and they were orange, not red. I was a little disappointed, but thought they were beautiful anyway.

I was seriously in love with my bouquet. It was all ivory peonies and it was perfect!

Dressed and ready, it was time to head downstairs for a few photos and a ride to the church.
