Gifts for the Gals

October 15th, 2009 @ 1:28 pm by Mrs. Sunbeam

When it came to choosing a gift for my bridesmaids, I went with a traditional choice and gave each a piece of jewelry that they could wear to the wedding and hopefully for years to come. When choosing the pieces I had to take into consideration that I had given the girls free range to chose a dress of any style, which meant different necklines, and the fact that one of my ladies doesn’t have pierced ears. The final factor was finding something silver at a time when gold was all the rage, to go with our wedding colors.

The first find was from the ever fabulous Anthropologie. I stalked the Anthro site for months waiting for something perfect to come along.

Since two of my ’maids had strapless dresses, one being the girl without pierced ears, I thought a necklace would work perfectly. At the time, the necklaces were just coming out so I had to do a rush order to my parents’ house and cross my fingers. They seemed to go over well and looked great for the wedding!

For the remaining three girls I really wanted to get earrings, but I was being picky over price and style. Then I came across Elephantine. Rachel, the gal behind the site, had made a few necklaces for her Etsy shop and I thought one of them would make a great pair of earrings! After a few emails back and forth, Rachel created three pairs of custom earrings and sent them to PA. Here’s how they turned out, with various shades of silver and various textures for character.

I really love the earrings and wish I would have had some made for myself! What did you gift your ladies? Did you have anything custom made?

I made necklaces for them (it’s super easy, and can be done mindlessly in front of the TV), and the one whose dress didn’t work with a necklace just wrapped it around her wrist three times as a bracelet.

I like what you picked! For me, I was going for not just handmade, but also something they honestly could wear again, even if the dresses went direct to eBay.

So pretty! I’m thinking of having brooches custom made, but haven’t committed to anything yet. ;)

I was thinking jewelry, but I have no clue what I’m going to give them. I love those earrings, though!

I love that jewelry. The necklace is particularly drool-worthy. :) Definitely wear-again pieces, as cliche as that sounds.

A bunch of pretty jewelry just went on sale at Anthro, so I picked out pretty earrings for all the bridesmaids and earrings + necklace for my MOH. They’re so pretty, I even picked out a pair for myself and now I have to get my ears pierced to wear them!

They’re both really great choices! If I was your bridesmaid, I would be all about wearing either one!

I think its not so if the gift is precious and costly it represents your love otherwise not, but i believe that your gift should represent a cool aesthetic sense , by this your loved one would respect you a lot that you have searched that gift with effort and with the core of heart.
